question about parking on a hill?
When you are on a hill and you put it in park do you let off the brake and let it move forward or do you hold onto the brake, put it in park and put the ebrake on?
Stupid question but, when I let it slide down a lil and put the ebrake on it makes a displeasing noise when shifting into drive.

WTF ?
With any car when you park on a hill or level should you set the E brake then shift to Park. Do the opposite when you start and go. Setting the E brake first and last eliminates torque-lock on the transmission. Sometimes people actually lock the trans on hills and you have to push the car slightly back to unlock it. Not always easy on a hill.
The 'displeasing noise' is displeasing your tranny.

put gear in neutral.. then set ebrake... then shift into park.. that way the car wont move forward when u let go of the brake and not have that grinding sound when u shift out of park ..

ALWAYS set your parking brake before you shif out of drive and into park... ALWAYS... when you start the car, shift into reverse or drive BEFORE you let off of the parking brake... make this a common practice...
also, if you have the ability to do it, try to not park on a hill...

One more thing to add to this... when you park on a hill, make sure your wheel is turned in the direction of the curb. This way, even if all else fails and your car does roll... it will roll into the curb and not straight down the hill

I told my roomate that and he's got OCD so not only does he do what I said but he stops the car, puts it in neutral, applies the parking brake, lets go of the regular brakes, and THEN puts it in Park. I swear I live with Monk.
