Default Pic Request: DC Carbon Fiber Trunk and Question/Dilema

Ok so I recently acquired a stock Milano Teg and unfortunatly it has a spoiler which I personally cant stand. I took it to a few body shops to get quotes on removing the spoiler, welding the holes, and repainting it and I was quoted with some rediculous prices (mainly because its milano and they have to repaint the quarter panels to paintmatch it). I was thinking about just saving some money and buying a CF VIS Hatch but Im not completly convinced with the whole idea. I dont have a CF hood either which could look tacky if I just throw on a trunk. I guess I could always use plugs for the spoiler holes but then I'll still be left with emblems and the plugs are probably gonna stand out on Milano. If anyone has any pics of their CF trunks, please post them b/c I havent been able to find many searching around. Not looking for HT to make a decision for me....just wanting to hear some opinions.

Thanks

use some tape instead of plugs while you save up (if it doesnt rain/snow) too much in your area .. i heard you need to replace the rear windshield too when using the cf trunk.. BUMP for this guy to see some pics

i agree.. it was kind of a pain to find the plugs. i just happened to find some at a local hardware store that fit perfect in all of the holes. a little silicone under between the plug and the trunk, and its sealed great.

Im thinking about taking my spoiler off too, and just using some red electrical tape (milano car).

Anybody have pics or spec's of the plugs?

Yeah I was thinking about the tape idea too. Its probably gonna be hard to find a red tape to match milano and make it look somewhat blended. I've seen pics of the plugs and they seem to stick out a lot. I wonder if its possible to paint the plugs

I would love to see some pics. Are the plugs flush mounted or are they raised. And how did the touch up paint work out?

from what i've seen in person everybody's plugs are slightly raised off the trunk.. havent seen perfectly flush with the trunk lid yet..

send a PM to patrickgsr..he told me the sizes a few months ago but it was just a PAIN to find the sizes at the stores..i went multiple times too

i would have used all the same plugs, but i bought them all out and they didnt have enough

like rtistik said, i have yet to see flush mount ones either. the touch up paint idea on the girls car i knew worked alright, although she doesnt have much of a steady hand (at least with painting ), but overall it didnt look that bad.

heres a comparison with 2 quarters

KEY WORD: Alright.

It doesn't fit that well on the left hand side. Even the right is so so.

Most VIS hoods fit very well from what I have seen but the batch of integra cf trunks out on the market don't fit that well at all.

I've got a VIS carbon trunk on my civic, i got it cause it was cheaper than to take off the wing, the fitment BLOWS on it, and in the spring i will be putting the factory trunk back on. i bought it in August so maybe they figured out the fitment problems by now.

have you tried looking at local junkyards to find a hatch without spoiler holes? its a long shot, but you might lucky, its even possible that you'd find a milano red one...
