Car choking/dying under half a tank of gas...fuel pump?
Hello fellow ed/ef owners,
Recently, i've been having problems with my 89 4door dpfi, with a 97 block. When i use up around half of the tank, i'll have problems with the car choking and stuttering. When i'm on the throttle, the gas will actually cut out and the revs will drop to zero. Sometimes, the car will even die out while i'm driving. I've zeroed it down to a problem with fuel pressure, could this be caused by a dying fuel pump? Should i run fuel system cleaner through my car first?
Thanks!

I wouldn't see a fuel pump doing that though. I would look farther than that. Maybe a fuel pressure regualtor? Injectors? Check fuel pressure at full tank and 3/4 tank and so on. Hope that shines some kind of light on the subject!
thanks man! do any of these symptoms sound familiar to having problems with too little pressure though?
Right now I'm having the same problem only less than half a tank it will start coking . I just filled the tank up all the way which I never do (I like having it a half a tank ) and I haven't had the problem yet after driving the car hard for two hours . I'm going to order a fuel pump today and hopefully it will fix it . Does you fuel pump make any funny noise ?
