I just had a problem that was resolved by adjusting the positioning of my dashpot because it was crooked. Seems I had a problem with 4000 rpm revs when I started the car, so yeah, I'd leave it.

my y8 intake mani doesn't have one at all. I thought the dashpot was just so when you let off the throttle quickly the throttle doesn't slam shut?

This one? I just removed it. Haven't felt any different. Have an idea that it adjusts the idle when it's reeaaally cold outside (Like -10-20-30 Cs). If you pull on it, it will only make the engine rev up to 3000rpm.

You should have no problems. I cut mine off...never had any problems.
