b18b1 into first generation integra?
Hey everyone, been a while since my last post. I just sold my 1995 integra ls, and now i have a beater 1989 integra ls. I think its got a d16a1 if im not mistaken. One thing i was wondering is i thought only B series motors were dohc and D series meant sohc? Im 100% sure this one is dohc. I was also wondering how difficult it is to install a b18b1 into my 1989 integra? I figured it would be the best bang for the buck. Is alot of modification nesseccary? is there another motor swap that i would benefit more from? thanks in advance for your help.
anyone own this car that can tell me if theres anything i should look for or check out? Im sure since its an integra it will run for a while, is there any common problems that seem to have? thanks in advance.
what you have is a D16A*, and this one is the one commonly referred to as ZC. it is twin-cam, and comes with 120hp in '89. it's a pretty good engine, really. i wouldn't bother swapping to LS. what i would do is get JDM ZC pistons for higher compression, and rebuild the whole engine with them since it's old and a full rebuild if you do all the labor is $700-$750ish (PM if you want to bitch). oh yeah, and you can get the valve spring recesses line-honed for LS valve springs and pick up some nice cams. boom. plenty of fun for a daily driver w/o breaking the bank. i'm assuming you have around the $1k-$1.5k it would take to complete this stuff since you're considering an engine swap.
oh yeah, and B-swap in that car won't fit power steering or air conditioning. and putting on the alternator requires some bashing with a BFH.

Definitely not in the front, it's a torsion bar system (basically you can think of it as the shocks being mounted upside down). The rears I think use the same shocks (or can be adapted to) as the EF/DA, if that's the case, then you could use the rears from a 95 Integra. Read in the how-to section on g1teg.org
yeha i have a 1990 teg and i put a b18b in my car.....a few things needed to be fixed like i had to use my old ditirbutor on the new motor cuase of hte wiring....the old exhaust manifold, and the old wiring harness...other then that its straight...oh besides the drivers side engine mount it sits kinda crooked
