Default Airconditioning problem..take out or leave in?

My 94 integra LS damaged during a car accident. The shop put everything else
back in the engine but the A/C didn't work. F#@@cked that up. Well, that was like a year and a half ago. No problems...but now, my car is acting funny. IDLE play
drops to 500 and sometimes chokes like its gonna die. Idle goes down slightly, doesn't die, but goes up and down.
Funny thing is, when I have the A/C button pressed from inside the car, the engine jumps and revs to 1000 and stays there. I have all the A/C components still on my car but there is no belt and I don't think the wiring is connected. Should I take everything off and will this fix my problem or should I spend the money to get it fixed? If I take it off, please give me some pointers on what I need to plug and wrench. I've been driving without A/C anyways. Thanks,
TGARYX

Seriously I wish I had a/c but no my POS doesnt, so I say you just get the a/c fixed and have them look at the idle then too

I have AC compressor not used since 99 from my 96 LS is you want to try it out, see where the problem is coming from. when you hit the AC button the ECU raises rpm to compensate for the drain on motor and battery.

Try cleaning your IACV on the back of your intake manifold with Brake cleaner might do some good.

Now, if I clean the IACV..what about the old A/C components? does leavin them on confuse my ECU, cause my CEL light goes off like crazy every time I drive.

Maybe I should just get it fixed....

Thanks for all the help.

sounds like your iac is sticking, the idle should go up when you turn on the a/c. The engine has to compensate for the extra power draw of the compressor.
