Question about Greddy header and the cat on 97 SH...
Hey guys
Well, i recently picked up a Greddy SS from a buddy of mine and i plan on modding the collector to 2.5 and have it fitted to my SH. I just wanted to get a few things straight so i know what to tell the muffler shop.
Is it true that the length of the collector will need be SHORTER for it to fit my SH?
Regarding the cat, from what ive read, aftermarket cats dont last nearly as long as the oem, is that correct? If that is the case, im just going to leave the stock cat on, i dont want to replace my cat every couple of years.
Any comments or general suggestions are greatly appreciated. I plan on documenting this process as i know many other 5th gener's would like to do this mod as well.
Thanks in advance.

If you compare it against a base header the SH header is LONGER than the base. By about 4-6". I don't know exactly the differences between the 4th and 5th gen headers however. The angle needs to be modified if I recall correctly as well for the 4th gen -> 5th gen conversion.
As for aftermarket cats they last just as long as the OEM ones just the fact that they're much more finicky to having fuel thrown in them. If you're running extremely rich you're throwing some extra fuel into the cat, this eventually ignites and destroys the core of any cat. The OEM one is just more resiliant to this in comparison to aftermarket ones. I've had mine (Carsound) for 3+ years now and haven't had an issue with it.
