Default Benen cup holder

Does anyone have a silver front Benen tow hook that they would be willing to sell. I miss mine. My back hook is lonely.

You may have noticed that these seem to have attained collectible status in the classifieds lately. Any of them that come on the market are sold immediately.

There's a knockoff out there now as well - https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=958417

------

As a sidenote... I'm still amazed at how Benen managed to **** away a seamingly endless stream of customers by simply halting production.

Yes, why?

they are cheap, "bolt on" and they work.

They're actually required under the 2005 HC rules.

BTW - Danny, I got the Arospeed unit. It's not the most solid one I've seen, but it's cheap and I think it will work. I just mounted it through one of my stock front tow hooks.

No. The reason being that if you're 6" deep in sand on an off, your factory tow hooks won't be accessible. You need something that protrudes from the front. I wanted to find a way to mount mine higher, but I looked at it for a long time and never came up with anything that wouldn't involve substantial cutting of metal and bumper cover, so I kept mine low and angled it up a little.

I though HC wants soft hooks ?

anyway I've had the benen ones and they look cute but I would never try to tow with them as I could easily see lateral movement of the tow line cuasing them to bend and mar the bling finish.

if the nose of the car is down in say a sand trap the diagonal force of the tow line being higher than the bumper would be a reason espcially if there was any upsets in the terain while it was being towed. The rear one would only need to be the same but the tow line off center.

hmm, well maybe it's time for z.speed to bring back another old school product...

"Construction: Al-5052/PC T6
Finish: Anodized (Red, Blue)
Weight: 0.5 kg (1.1 lbs)
Tensile Strength: 26 kg/mm^2

Originally designed so race cars could easily towed off the race track. Z.Speed tow hooks can also be used on your lowered street car to give it that race car look. Also, by making your car's towhooks more accessible, you can easily prevent costly front air dam and rear valence damage resulting from when your car is towed. Each tow hook is made from light weight heat treated aluminum and has a towing capacity of 1300 kg (2860 lbs). "

soft hooks are better tho, rcrew ek has it...

the orange thingy. u pull it out if needed.

If anybody ever hits or bump drafts me with one of those bullshit blingy tow hooks we WILL have a private discussion about it after the race.

In racer terms, having a tow hook sicking out of your front bumper that can hold a beer can is just plain rude. It will mangle other racers rear bumpers in very minor contact.
Save the bling for the street. Go with a soft hook or one recessed far enough under the bumper that it won't do such damage.

If you can injure your shins just walking around the front of your car, thats a BAD tow hook.

with those clear corners there is no doubt stunna.

The soft tow hook gets the job done without being all demolition derby, and let's face it if that drink cup was going to scratch them it would not be sitting there.

No.
But that doesn't mean you didn't have a bullshit tow hook.

Just because you put it on a fast car doesn't mean its validated as a good piece.

apparently looking at miatas racing yesterday you can use a climbing hook like shown in the oic and seen on every car mounted to a tie down strap area as long as it's rated for the tow weight of the car

Its not the making part thats hard, its finding the materials to do it with. Finding that small tow strap was hard to do.

I've had the same problem. So is everyone using homemade units now? I can't beleive there isn't some supplier out there making these.
