What type of engine oil to use on 155k 92 Lude?
I am debating whether to use synthetic oil or not. I hear mixed feeling about use of synthetic oil on high mileage engine. Should I just go with Valvoline maxlife designed for engine over 75k miles?
I would like to hear you guys' opinion.
Thanks,
Tim

What have you been using in the engine up to this point? Synthetic or petroleum based oils?
If you've been using conventional/petroleum based oils all this time, then stick with that - it wouldn't really benefit you to change to synthetic this far along into your engine's life.

Exactly, just stick with what you have now. I used to use Mobil 1 5w30 in my si and changed it anywhere between 3-5K with filter.

I'd use AMS Oil 5w30. Its 100% synthetic. Use their oil filters too. Nobody sells it where I live so I buy it from a dealer that lives in my town but he also ships anywhere in the country. If you want his name and number let me know.

Our race car uses good old dino oil and runs just fine. The Odometer says 176K and there is no reason to suggest that it is less. If you are not burning oil or have other issues keep using whatever you currently have. Just my 2 cents
ok, this is off topic, but on the topic of oil. i live in las vegas, home of 115 degree summers, should i change my oil to a heavier weight for summer?? i'm using 5w-30 now
