Are JDM ITR's numbered like USDM's?
Also, would the engine serial number be able to be traced back to which # car it came from. The reason I ask is I would just like to know. I noticed just about every ITR owner has their number somewhere.......
SEARCH
And yes the motor will correlate with the car, thats called a Vehicle Identification Number. If its been stolen and the cop runs that VIN it will show its been stolen.

There was a huge thread about the question you asking somewhere in the archives. I can't find it for some reason. Maybe it got deleted?
Why you asking? maybe your jacked that engine...
Maybe these will help:

Where do these asshats come from. My goodness. I realize why people want to leave HT. A bunch of ******* trolls and people that want to buy stolen or untraceable ****. Could you be more obvious?
Well......theft has nothing to do with it!
I am simply asking if I could find out what number JDM Type R my engine came from.....I noticed someones setup page.
Powerplant:
1997 ITR #xx motor
2000 ITR #xx trans
Thanks for answering my question to those that helped...
Actually they leave because of worthless replies like this......

Someone asks a question and gets pounded like that!
Furthermore, don't you think someone may ask a similar question as to avoid buying a stolen engine? Felony possesion of stolen property to save a little cash? I think not!

From what I've read here in the past, there is no documented correlation between the badge number (ex. 00-0330) and the VIN number or engine number of the car.
So in other words, you're really unlikely to find out the R's badge number that the engine came from.

Your original post just sounds shady. No there is no way to link the JDM motor to which car it came out of. I believe there is a serial number on the clip if you know what clip you got it out of. But either way it's not like it's gonna give u a number to identify yourself. I think the jdm serial numbers are like 8 numbers.
So if anything you could say I have jdm itr motor 98- 98522364, which doesn't help anyone. So once again this post is a waste of space.

My car does not have a "badge #". The plate on the console only says " 98 spec".
I am sure it is just like the US. The only one that is going to have a record of the engine-to-chassis #'s is Honda of Japan. Good luck trying to reach them and communicate...
