Default Low Budget Exhaust

I have a 95 eg and i am having a hell of a time trying to figure out what exhaust to get for my car. I have done search after search and there are just too many to pick from, and a lot seem expensive. I am on a tight budget now and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a low budget exhaust that will sound good (not loud) and perform decent. Thanks for the help.

well if you.re looking for affordability, stay away from the full cat-back systems. i would suggest going with a muffler like the ES-oval canister (sounds nice, low profile looks, cheap) and then get some larger diameter piping (2.25 is a pretty standard upgrade). thats how i and most of my friends have done it over the years since we don't want to drop $500 (give or take of course) on a full cat-back system which doesn't give you that much of an increase anyway.

just be sure you go to a reputable muffler shop to get that work done.

note: factor in whether or not you.re willing to run a test-pipe (remove the CAT) or remove your resonator. each will make a difference in sound and performance. of course removing both and running a "straight pipe" will yeild the best gains but...driving without a CAT is illegal and that setup will be quite noisy. also, you can choose between having your piping mandrel bent (no pinches in the piping) or press bent. all the nice cat-back systems are mandrel bent of course.

the choice is yours!

you prolly won't get a full catback for that much.

if your just looking for a rear section or muffler you could prolly do that.

i have a catback apexi n1 exhuast and its pretty quiet it comes with a silencer as well.

ES makes the muffler. You can also find a Magnaflow oval style that looks similar, usually a little cheaper.
You could probably have a decent muffler shop crush bend a cat back set up with a Magnaflow muffler for a little over 200.
Or you could save a little more, and get piping through an online shop like K. Teller, http://kteller.com/news/, he even sells the oval style mufflers for about 75bux.

Have a muffler shop make you piping and just use a magnaflow muffler. My friend paid $160 for his. 2.25" with a magnaflow stock looking high flow muffler/axle back.

just save up the $$ to buy a decent one. i had a custom one made for $100. it was loud and raspy. i later just forked over $200 for a real catback system (slightly used of course). if you're not in need of one (rusted through, missing) right now, just wait and save up for a good exhaust system. do it right, and just do it once

Good deal, considering I just forked out 532$ for a new Apexi N1. O well. You get what you pay for is right, you might even be able to go around to a couple of shops and see if anyone is willing to do the job under the table. I have somone mounting my new exhuast for 20$ under the table, instead of the 70 they were originally going to charge.
Good luck.

well since i work at advance auto parts and i get a good discount, i decided to get the DNX exhaust. With the discount I paid about half the price of the apexi n1. Im happy with it. It seems to be constructed well. Its stainless steel and its mandrel bent, what more could you ask for.? Take a look and tell me what you think.

whats the size of the piping??? looks like you could improve the design by cutting that bottleneck off and rewelding it with some new piping
