POWER SLOT PLUS 2 PIECE ROTOR INFO.

Has anyone used this new kit yet? What size rims will it clear? will they worp after couple of sessions? how much lighter compared to brembo blanks? Im thinking to upgrading from my blanks to these, but dont want to spend the money just yet. If I do get them they will go on my type r brakes...any info will be helpful

really the desing looks a little different, the slots are straight aems are curbed, also the hats on power slot have more support bolts than aem. Regardless anyone purchase these yet??

I am sure they will help a bit. But the question you need to ask yourself is "why". I can't see that the stock brakes with a good set of pads would not be enough. Put a good set of pads on, and stick with the stock stuff. Spend that money on something else like more track time.
could be lighter in weight. Thats good enough for me to spend money on. I'd like to know more info on them.

Thats very true, I just want to know if someone has used them yet? I would think since it is a two piece design, that might be less heat transfered to the actual rotor, but Im new to tracking events correct me if Im wrong. My original plan was to go from blanks to slotted brembo's with hawk pads, but if these work better and weight less why not.

You still havent posted:
- what car is it
- what's done to it (motor swaps, etc)
- what the use is (autox, track days, race, etc)
- what your goals are
- current brake setup
I'm guessing good pads + fluid is all you'll need, in addition to replacing any busted **** already on the car (caliper rebuilds, lines, etc).

The AEM big brake kit line was purchased by Power Slot. They might have changed the design some (slots vs. cross drilled) but they are from the same source, so to speak.

Everything I've seen on them shows that they are big brake kits that use the stock calipers, ala AEM BBK. I haven't seen a stock sized application yet for the two piece rotors. Notice the brake caliper bracket in the picture.

Goal to built a fast track car that I can drive there and back.

Yeah, well when they transferred it from AEM to Powerslot, they stopped making the kit for the mid 90's Civics. After over a month of run around, they finally sent me replacement rotors, which had the wrong offset for the car. In other words, they are not the exact same as the AEM kit.
Also, be warned that Powerslot's policy is not to sell replacement disks only, you have to replace both halves of the two piece rotors - hat and disk together. Apparently somebody didn't connect the new disks properly to the old hat, and they got sued, so now you can't buy the disk alone. In other words, it's more expensive.
On the flip side, the brakes work GREAT! Two years of racing my Civic, and I haven't even had to bleed them. No fade, ever.

FWIW, the 'IT-R' (spec whatever) are 100%, absolutely positively not ever to be used on the street. Hell dont even look at a public road from the paddock with them on your car. And dont ever use the 'IT-R' pads on the same rotor as any other pad either, or look at another box of pads while you're sitting in the car.
that was not even a consideration. If anyone wants to race their cars, they can spend the whole, oh what? 8 minutes that it takes to swap pads... But that's just me, I'm a little masochistic I suppose.
I didn't need to swap rotors with the Spec(VR) on the integra, but ok, add 5 minutes

the spec VRs are quite nice to the rotors. I can't speak about the spec B as I havent ran them yet. But i will have more feedback on them after next week since I will be using them at the Roebling road scca school.
edit: you can't go wrong with either carbotech or cobalt. They both make an outstanding product and should both be able to hook you up with the best pad for your application. Don't be afraid to pick up the phone and call them up. They know their brakes. My personal preference is for Cobalt, and some other's personal preference is for Carbotech. I'm not sure there is much difference in performance.

I drive to and from the track with the SpecVRs and they work fine at street temps-they have a very large operational temperature range and that's good.

I killed some rotors with the spec b's in 2 events. They seem to be rather hard on rotors IMO but the stopping power was good. I will be using VR's in the future.
