pulling motor out, or drop from bottom? whats easier?
Well i did a swap on my crx awhile back with a 90 ls motor and i member i put it in with a cherry picker. It was a pain in the *** manuvering it right. I heard on speed today that honda motors are actually put in from under the car. I heard of people doing this before so i thought maybe i should try! Im buying a 2 ton engine crane tomorrow so that will pick the rex up no problem. Then i have a really nice ATV jack i can drop the motor on. what do u guys think? bottom or top?

I think you just answered your own question. Honestly, to save yourself the hassle, bolt the transmission to the engine, put it on that jack, and lower the car onto the engine. Constantly be making sure the engine is going in properly. When you take it out from the top you should tilt it and watch for the a/c compressor and alternator. Since you can lift up the crx, thats what I would do, drop it out the bottom.

I dont really care cause both ways take huzzle but my favorite would be from the top cause u can leave the back mount already on the engine and drop it straight into the rear crossmember mount.
well im pulling this B16 out to sell it so i can just take all 3 mounts off. when i put in the gsr i might do from the top. there is no ac compressor
.... i think i will do the bottom for something new.. just gotta see if my muffler will hit the ground or what if so i'll just pull off the whole catback...actually i just membered that the stock exhaust manifold is pretty much touching the front cross member so i dont think i could do it fro the bottom. Well its good to know tho i'll put the other motor in from the bottom...
Im doing a gsr crx project thread check out the pics...there will be a ton more!!

The safety issues created with lifting your car 3 feet off the ground outweigh the slight amount of hassle you might go through using the cherry picker. Unless you have access to a lift I would do it from the top. I've always put motors in from the top. It's not so bad. But i suggest you get one of these.

They make the job a lot easier.

if you are going from the top or bottom it make life easier if you drop the rear sub-frame, its not hard remove 4 bolts that hold it to car, tie rods from knuckles and steering column from the rack and thats it
it makes putting the rear mount in less of a pain becuase when you put the sub-frame back in the mount on it slides into the bracket on the engine
