Ok, I have a question.

I have OEM CTR cams and a firt gen B16 out of a CRX SiR. If I swap the stock cams for the newer CTR cams is a valvetrain upgrade necessary??

I would recomend a valvetrain, If you tend to use your stock rev limit you dont have to upgrade your springs and retainers. For future use i would.

Well, I'd like to get the most out of the CTR cams as possible....does this mean that to harness their full potential I'd have to rev past the stock rev limiter?

Right now I have the entire engine out of the car and I have a choice of keeping the stock cams and leaving it all alone or adding the CTR cams only and keeping the stock valvetrain. If I have to take off the head to do a valvetrain upgrade then that's going to open up a whole new can of worms which will include new gaskets, new hardware and I may as well port and polish the head while it's off right?

I guess I am wanting to know are the CTR cams even worth adding to a stock B16 head without having to modify anything??

What has he done to make him "gay"?

He's never been anything but helpful in the posts I observe from him. He was completely cool with me when I bought a ECU jumper from him.

If you plan on adding R cams, they do offer improvements, even if you keep the stock valvetrain and ECU. Consider adding adjustable cam gears though and dyno tuning it so that you can get the cams dialed in. Without upgrading the valvetrain to handle a higher redline, modifying the fuel tuning curve, porting the head slightly, the cams are still good for a few ponies throughout the powerband. Depending upon your external mods, possibly 5 whp horses more. Those cams tend to enjoy breathing at higher RPM's though.
