well here it goes....i power washed my car 2night and decided to power was the engine bay too.....this is a completly stock 90 EX 4dr.....i got a lil water in the engine like usual when power washing......well it cut off and did the water in the motor thing....well i got it runnin w. a decent idle and held it for a few to try to get the water to pass.....few moments later the back of the car is on fire.....would the excess gas from tryin to start it, would that have got in teh exhaust and caught fire or what? it melted the undercoating above the muffler, so im gunna replace the muffler and what not, but im a lil scared to start it if the problem could have been caused elsewhere....so please give me any input if youve heard of this b4, and thank you in advance

Friction of some sort??? im not sure what would cause that,its sorta odd......maybe the material in your cat is somehow igniting idk...bump for you man i hope someone comes along and figures it out...

lol i have allways wanted to have 20 foot flames thrown from the back of my car for a flame contest i know how to do it to just dont know how safe it is **** IT 50+ FOOT

 

i didnt get pics, it was on fire while i was in it, i noticed it and ran like hell......i just need to figure it out so i can drive it again and stop putting miles on my CRX

well after talkin to a few people, it seems to be from when i was tryin to start it, the raw gas that got into the exhaust just caught fire once it was warmed up and that is my problem
