2000 Civic engine problem
I own a 2000 civic EX, only mods are intake, and cat back exhaust. One day driving the check engine light came on, i noticed nothing strange so i figured it was just a stupid code or something. I didnt scan it or anything so i kept on driving. the light stayed on for about a week and a half, then tonight i stopped and was talking to someone and left my car running. Got back in the car, the engine light was off so i was like ok whatever. Then driving home, damn POS camaro passes me, so i was like alright S**T head. so we were haulin down the road. We get behind a car, well anyways he passes the car, i downshift to 2nd doing about 40, as soon as i down shift the engine light came on and when i hit about 5400 rpms the car acted like it was hitting the rev limiter, so i shifted to 3rd and did it again it like bounced at like 5400. i reved it up a few times and it did it again. so i pulled over, shut the car off, started it back up, and it was fine but the engine light is still on. Possible sensor?
I havent scanned it yet but i figured Id ask see if anyone car give me any insight, thanks.

When u get a cel, check engine light, the ecu switches to safe mode. This enables a rev limit at 5400 to prevent engine damage when the ecu detects a problem. By restarting the car, safe mode will be eliminated until another cel shows up. Find out what the code is and i will try to diagnose it for ya.
