Default F22 swap 91 Si

has anyone ever done this swap before I mean the numbers show it would be close to a B16.
here are the numbers

90-93 F22A1 4G - CB 2156 8.8 : 1 125 @5200 rpm 137 lb/ft@4000 rpm

89-92 B16A1 4G - EE 1595 10.2 : 1 158 @7600 rpm 111 lb/ft@7000 rpm

but will it fit

its not really worth the time youd spend trying to get it to fit. if your looking to stay cheap, rebuilt the d block for boost or higher compression

From what I hear about the h22 and fitment into a 4th gen, since you're dealing with another 2.2 liter engine, you're going to have to go to town on your engine bay to get it to fit, basically having no regard to structural safety. I don't see a reason to spend $3000 to make it fit, unless you have the engine or something already.

The install of a F22/f23 in you 4th gen will be almost identical to an h22 swap.
If you have any questions, search the h22 threads.

where do you see numbers that are close to each other? 125 and 158 is nowhere close to each other. the f22 revs to 5500ish. the compression is crazy different.

The difference in torque would make up for the difference in hp.
How high it revs and the compression really dont have to do with anything.

The f22 has great midrange power, while the b16 only has top end power.
And the f22 revs to like 6500.

well, my argument is just the comparison in numbers. i dont know anything about the f22.. and i was just saying the useable power stops around 5500.

My argument is, if you consider the horse power and torque, the motors are very comparible.

swap not worth it. if you go to all the trouble at least drop in a H23 and build it up.

My F22A1 is redlined at 6250rpm. Fuel cutoff is just shy of 6700rpm. This is in a '91 Accord LX Wagon (5-speed). Personally, I don't see why you'd go to the trouble of putting that engine in your CRX, unless you have one lying around in your garage, it's free, and you love a challenge or just like to be different. You CAN put one in a CRX; given enough time, money, and creativity, you can put damn near any engine into damn near any car. The question is, is it worthwhile to do so?

For me, if I were determined to have a 2.2 in my CRX, I'd go with the H22a. The F22A had decent torque for a Honda, but that much work for a factory-rated 130hp seems like a bit of a waste. I can get the same horsepower out of a D15B SOHC VTEC for not a lot of $, and it's easier and cheaper to get in the car. The torque of the F22a would be nice to have, but the H22a offers more torque (161 ft-lb) AND more horsepower (200hp JDM, 190hp USDM).

Of course, if I were buying an H22a, it wouldn't be going in my CRX. I'd drap dat beeyotch in my waggin'! Sleeper wagons rock.

Just my take on it. I wouldn't do it to *MY* CRXs, but you can do whatever you like with yours.

i think the f22 or f23 for that matter in a crx is a great swap idea, despite what most ppl on this thread seem to say. you can get f22's and f23's all day for $200 for a longblock!

you guys should do some reading...the f blocks themselves are pretty identical to h blocks....thus, ppl are starting to put h heads on f blocks - and having success at it.

a f23 w/adapter plate to a b-series tranny would make, imho, for a great swap that won't cost you too much $$$ and, using the adapter, wouldn't be nearly as difficult as some ppl say on here. just keep an open mind.
