Default what are you words on replacing the harmonic damper with an unorthodoxed racing pully

i bought a bunch of stuff for a good price that i would use with my turbo setup and i got an unorthodoxed racing pully. I have heard some bad things about them but just want to hear what some more people have to say.

Should i use the unorthodoxed racing pully or leave the stock harmonic damper.

isnt the unorthodoxed pully an accessory underdrive pulley? I wouldnt use that if you like your a/c and all of your other accessories...

Search the archives and you will find many, many discussions regarding solid lightweight crank pulleys. Nothing anyone posts here is going to be new information or opinions.

Leave the harmonic balance. The solid pullies cut engine life in half. If you wan't to loose weight on the crank, it's best to do it with a light weight flywheel. If you want to underdrive the accessories, its best use smaller accessory pullies. Please leave your harmonic ballance alone...

Leave your stock crank pulley. If you want a shattered oil pump and some spun rod bearings then boost the **** out of your motor with the Unorthodox racing pulley . We've had some sore issues with Unorthodox Racing pulleys before with turbo motors. Your factory crank pulley is balanced from the factory and the center section helps reduce vibrations that my go down your crank shaft etc. The UR pulley doesn't have this and has a tendency to not be properly balanced, or warped, etc and can send off vibrations and under boost can result in a shattered oil pump, spun rod bearings, etc.

If you stay with the aftermarket pulley, just make sure that you balance your block with crankshaft + harmonic damper.

Failure to do so, will cause an imbalance in your rotational mass within the block which may lead to failure of crucial internal components.

aren't honda engines internally balanced? so the harmonic balancer on the outside of the engine wouldn't be as crucial for engine longevity as an externally balanced american v-8?

Even so, because of the way I4s are designed, there are inherent second and third order harmonic imbalances even if all the internals are balanced. I'm trying to find in my engine design book where it discussed harmonic balance of each type of engine so . I think the only type that is inherently balanced is either the boxer 4 or 6, because of the design (cylinders 180* of each other) and firing order.
