What do you all-motor people use as intakes and why?
I use an AEM short ram intake.
Why? Cause it makes the vt@ch m@d loud y0! And plus theres a filter on it so I dont suck up like small animals into my engine and stuff.

AEM CAI cause it was a gift from my girlfriend which means FREE and mainly cause any intake can do well on a dyno with the hood open and fan on but when the hood is closed it's a different story, I want something that performs well while I'm driving.
Truthfully though the last few dyno's I've seen of different intakes on same car and motor the AEM has been one of the top besides Mugen of course.

Fake J's style.
Because it looks like a huge whale ***** and it's loud.
Honestly, the difference between a CAI and a short ram are minimal. I did a test with an engine management system looking at IAT (intake air temperature) sensor readings driving around with both, and the difference is only when stopped at a light. The short ram will heat up faster than the CAI.
The important thing is that the pipe is big enough and you have a good quality filter on it.

J's Racing yo! I got it because when I got my skunk2 manifold i needed a new intake, and at the time it looked like one of the better choices out there for my set-up

aem short ram because I got it really cheap. I had an ebay short ram on my previous car and liked it just as much. I just happened to know someone selling the aem for real cheap. I would suggest an ebay intake. Is 1-3PEAK WHP really worth an extra 150-200dollars?Not to me.
I have an Iceman CAI, but I converted it to a short ram. A lot of ppl dont use this intake anymore but I picked it up new from a friend for SUPER CHEAP, b/c he is rich and he bought the Iceman and then decided he wanted a Comptech Icebox b/c it just came out at the time.
Do you have anymore left of the custom ones?? I only use Iceman to but Ithe one i have is from a SOHC and it tapers too much to the TB...And i have a Type r engine...Let me know if you do..
Velocity stack style intake-because it makes power.
I run the J's on my ITR-throttle response is a little better than with the AEM CAI, but peak power is just a little less.

I use a custom mounted 94 Integra box with an oem ITR intake arm. I also have a K&N drop-in filter and a piece of aluminum pipe leaving the bottom hole in the box which goes to the fenderwell. I pretty much made my own Mugen/Comptech style airbox with cold air inlet. Good thread.
