15.2 sec 1/4 mile.........question
89 Si hatch
D16y8 complete motor
P28
Intake
Header
92 GSR rims w/ monster truck tires, lol
DX TRANNY AS WELL!!!!!!!!
After my swap about 1.5-2 years ago, i ran my hatch at the track and pulled a best of 15.2 but was getting a consistent 15.4 in the 1/4
Reading about other peps setups and the power they are making, i just can't beleive that I have such a low ET compared to them.
And from what I have been reading, my DX tranny is killling my 1/4 times and upgrading to an Si would improve them.....SOOOO.......With the comparisons I have done, I am thinking that maybe I DO have the Si tranny after all. I bought it at a junk yard and the "computer" said it came off a DX Rex.
whatcha think?

you shuld run tell us what the stamp says on your tranny so we can figure it out. Im sure a junk yard knows what they are selling most of the time... the SI tranny is usually more costly.
You know, i did that once, looked at the stamping,
and i dont remember which is which but something like A000 and A002 with A000 being DX and A002 being Si?
Which ever way it was, i got it off of h-t i think, according to the info in that thread I had the Dx tranny.
BUT some people say there is NO way of knowing unless you count the teeth on the final drive gear.

That is an impressive time. Good driving and/or 60' times.
I am hopeing that my tranny IS Dx, so when I get my Si, or ZC/Si hybrid tranny, I can pull into the high 14's. Also I have done more mods and have had the car dyno tuned. I think its possible

I've got a d16a6 with homemade intake and 2.25 exhaust and run 14.9. Secret: http://www.hmotorsonline.com zc tranny. Hella accelleration, rips through gears like you wouldn't believe. And, only $50!

Pricing:my bad, they must have went up since I bought mine. Now they are $100 but it's worth it. Anyways, there are two different versions of the zc tranny. The typical one is actually longer geared which makes the accelleration not so great but they are evenly spaced. Then, there is the one from hmotors. This was the "black sheep" of the two. It's rare but they mangaged to get ahold of quite a few apparently. Anyways, it uses the si 1-5 gears but has a HUGE 4.43 final drive(stock si fd:4.25) which makes unbelievable accelleration. If you want accelleration, I assure you that this tranny is the way to go.

You are not going to be running in the 14's with just the tranny change. A 15.2 -15.4 with your setup is actually pretty good. A b-series swap will put you into the 14's. And you can't go by the stamping on the tranny and tell what it is. The only way to be positive you have a si tranny is by having it off the car, putting it in reverse, marke the input shaft and mark where the axel goes in. And turn the input shaft. Count how many turns it takes to turn the axel 1 complete turn. SI takes 13.4 turns on the input shaft. I have a SI Tranny and a DX and they both have the same stampings. pl3/3000
Your in cincy? get on cincinnatistreetracing.com im sure they have one or two. and im sure thats whats killing you cause my friend pulled a 15.2 with a STOCK crx Si(lots of tuning and no resanators.

I have. Although, my car barely weighs 1900 lbs (stripped std civic) but still, it made a huge diff. between the zc and si tranny's.
