I am currently searching for 1999-2000 Civic SI's for sale and I came across one that I really want to buy, but the second owner had no idea that the SI's were supposed to come with the front lip. Another person called him wondering why his didn't have it as well. I have seen this a few times when looking for other SI's in the past, but now I really don't know why most have the lip and only a few do not. The only thing I can think of is the bumper was replaced and the dealership didn't replace the front lip in the same process.

Someone explain the mystery behind some SI's rockin no front lip.. The car I want to buy is so clean, but the lip kills me, lol. where the *** is it?

 

You can get another lip for like 100 dollars. Don't let that be the deciding factor in the purchase.

I do think they all had a lip from the factory though.

 

maybe the second owner sold the lip?

just buy it and buy another lip.

i knew there was probably nothing wrong with it but that's why we got these threads. plus, the headlights line up perfectly with the bumper. You cant even fit a piece of paper between where the two meet. thanks guys. woot

 

hate to rain on the parade but in most cases you usually see no lip when it was in an accident and they cheaped out on replacing the lip..

check the gap all the way up between the fender and hood.. that's usually how you can tell if its been whacked and been repaired without attention to detail.
if its all good talk em down and buy a lip

Are you sure its an "Si" or is it just an emblem on the car?

But they did all come factory with the front lip, he could have sold it to H-T or broke it and took it off......

But check if it has a B16A in it then get back to us

 

The grill is painted but all it has is the chrome Honda emblem in there. I do not see an SI badge to the corner of the grille, so now you got me thinking about some front end damage. I mean, come on, Honda did not forget to put the right grille on there from the factory. It was the people at this dealership that it was repaired at.

Can anyone prove this to be false still or if it's missing the lip and the SI grille, does that mean it's 100% fixed from some sort of damage?

 

the si's don't have si in the grill. they only have the honda emblem. i say first check to make sure it's an si (vin should be em1...., and have a b16 motor w/ same vin) and then run the vin on carfax.

 

It is 100% an SI with the b16a2. I just have yet to see the car up close to determine if it indeed was in an accident and how bad it was based on the gaps between the hood/fender and headlights/fenders/bumper.

Everyone please give me feedback though.

 

It was probably stolen. I took mine off when I traded my car in and sold it for $100. The dealer had no clue it was supposed to be in the car.

 

It might have gotten stolen before the dealership sold it. I know a couple Honda dealerships down in south florida had a problem with people stealing the rims off the Si's so they started putting ugly *** special edition alloys on them. Maybe this is what happened??? my .02
