Default plz help find lower lighter seat rails.

I just picked up a Cobra Suzuka seat. My research has shown the cobra rails are only made for an eg/dc and are extremely heavy.

what i'm asking from you guys is suggestions on FIA approved or a "safe" side mount sliding bracket to fit my 00' civic.

are there good universal systems?
would a any popular brand fit? recaro/sparco?

thanks in advance.

Try calling Sube Sports. They're an authorized Cobra dealer and might be able to help you.

Unfortunatley, universal, in relation to seat brackets, seems to mean the easiest thing for the welding/metal bending monkey (no offense to real fabricators) to churn out. If you're short, then aside from the weight they're probably ok. If you need the head clearance, or just want a better product you should try to find someone to make some rails for you - or possibly try to adapt the side-mounts to the stock rails.

The only aftermarket rails I've ever been impressed with were the Mugen pieces, but they only fit seats made for rear-ends considerably smaller than my own.

damn those tiny asian asses!

i'm around 5'8" so im sure the height won't be bad but from what i understand a lower seat really changes the dynamic of feedback. and the weight issue i guess is not a problem, but at the same time whats the point of owning a lighter weight seat if your going use heavy hardware? if that were the case i would mount my lazy boy and a 6 point in haha.

Well, I don't know if they are lighter or lower, but I have been used the Momo/Sparco (they appear indentical) seat rails on the last couple of cars. They are FIA approved. They add about an 1" to the seat height. We do need to do custom fab work the mounting points for them in the car though. This entails removing the stock seat mounts, etc, etc.

Ideally, I wouldn't even use tracks. We do use them so that different size driver's can fit for enduros.

meaning they are approx. 1" in height. they will add 1" from the finished surface of the fabbed (chassis) mounts to the seat's side mounts. as opposed to mounting the side mounts directly to the surface of the fabbed mounts. since aftermarket seats, even from the same brand, differ from model to model & the way builders fab up mounts differ, it will be hard to predict the finished height in relation to the oem seat other than to say....it should be lower.....

Hey monkey, I've seen your seat rails, and taken them out!
