alright these things i dont want to change!
interior
a/c
anything else can go
i was thinking
jdm front end is lighter than us cuz of no bumper support
same with the rear bumper
so i was thinking about 30lbs right there
i was gonna pull the carpet and interior to remove the tar
15lbs
i have a spare set of 88 doors i would like to put in i dont know how much weight this saves off of 90/91 doors
anymore input would be nice guys!

1 - 'Weld' rims
2 - Fuel Cell
3 - Open Header
4 - Remove unecessary wiring
5 - Remove tar UNDER body coating
6 - Light weight battery
Maybe people can just copy/paste and ad to this list eh? - Darrell

you could always get some racing seats. that will shave off 30 or so pounds, unless your trying to make it look completly stock.
you dont have to buy the carbon fiber hood you can just cut the reinforcement metal off the steel hood... also the carbon fiber quarters dont save you that much on an EF.... you can take your bumper supports off and still use the USDM bumper... CF hatches arent all that much lighter... but the lexan will lighten it up, its just illegal in most states. ALSO, if you strip your doors down you can cut the bars on the inside that weight so much but still keep factory door based set belts. and dont forget your wheels... you can drop easy weight if you upgrade wheels.
use hf front bumber suuport it is just like the jdm one real light anso front crossmember replace with lightweight aftermarket one and remove that firewall insulation its gotta be at least 15 pounds

Yeah, do all that stuff, just pray you dont get into an accident without all those supports, that will **** your **** up bigtime. I would recommend doing away with that rubber **** under the carpet, the carpet itself, the padding on the firewall, stuff that was not put there to protect the occupants in case of an accident. Removing the hood skeleton probably would be ok. Wheels is a good idea, how about a lighter flywheel and gramlight lugs. Lexan for the rear windows if you can get away with it on the streets.
Hundred pounds is easy
I'm trying to get 200 pounds off my 88std.
1. remove back seats:33 pounds( I weighed them myself on a digital scale)
2. cargo cover: 5 pounds
3. remove seat belts:7 pounds
4. remove stare and jack: 27 pounds
5. remove ecu cover:2 pounds
-Their are other things you can remove like the rear plastic and carpet+sound deadening but this might be your daily driver so you might want to be that extreme with it, because you still can get 100 lbs off the car easy without those extremes. The ones above don't require any money. These listed require money.
1. carbon fiber hood: 10-30=20lbs weight saving
2. battery: 25-10=15 pounds
3. dc header one peice:30-7=22 pounds
4. front cross member: 27-15=12 pounds
5. flywheel:18-9=9 pounds
6. eg radiator:10-5=5 pounds (less fluid also so its probably lighter then that)
7. exhaust:30-20=10 pounds
8. rear lower control arms:12-7=5 pounds
9. seats:60-35=25 pounds
10. intake: 6-3=3 pounds
11. rear brakes:16-8=8 pounds (85 hf rear aluminum drums)
12. intake manifold:20-10=10 pounds
The list is longer but I'll stop their. Their are other things to list such as the hf bumpers supports, aftermarket steering wheel. Getting light weight crank pulleys, but I don't trust them. Their is a member who lightens your stock one for realitively cheap. Aftermarket wheels are good, but usually they weigh close to the stock weight of 13" steelies on the car now and after market tires are heavier then stock so I didn't list them. Their are other crazy things such as titanium bolts to replace motor mount bolts and tranny bolts, but I'm going to stop their. This is your daily driver right?

so far i got this
firewall mat - 10lbs
tar sound deadening - 10lbs
cf hood and lightweight batter - 20lbs
88 doors instead of 90/91 - ????
spare tire and jack - 20lbs
full race crossmemeber - 10lbs
rear bumper support and jdm front support - 15 lbs
other small mating and etc in door panels - 5lbs
thats about a 100lbs easily any more ideas? thats not to extreme how much does the rear hatch window weigh? i wouldnt mind lexan'in that window if its worth it.

Damn i love how light these cars are, and how light they can get.
Here i have been adding weight like an idiot! Turbo, manifold, intercooler,
3" exhaust, uh, hey wait a second that doesn't count
One thing you might want to try, its removing the intake manifold bracket.
Thats a good 5lbs or more right there.

remove the left mirror also
just kidding, but for real, lose the AC. quit crying about the weather. wind was good enough for folks for years before they had AC in cars.

youll save a tiny bit of weight by taking the ac out but it wont be alot compaired to other cars systems ,older cars were the ones that needed the loss of the ac to get any wheres because it took alot of power to turn that extra accessery freeing up more horsepower but im just saying that casue thats what i was thought but i like the windows down any ways

how much what? Money? Weight? Just the rims, cost about 450 new. The 15 x 6.5 inch rimes weigh 12 lbs.
Back to the main topic, what about taking out the door mounted seat belts and having them pillar mounted, I heard the door mounted seat belts are HEAVY bitches. Some people say thats like 100 lbs right there.

Targa top the roof from front all the way to back. Cut off about 40 -50lbs on my cousins golf.
He didnt do it to loose weight, wanted an open top without a convertible.

Some of the things listed are kind of extreme. Considering this is your daily driver I wouldn't take out the ac,sound deadening, or carpet. You can shave more then a hundred pounds and not loose the creature comforts of the car. Its just a thought but hey its your car so good luck.
