What kind of hp numbers are you going for and what are you going to be doing to the bottom end? Personally, I'd rather go with a 3 layer head gasket and user higher CR pistons, but if you're not going to touch the bottom end, then I've heard that you can remove the middle layer of the mugen 3 layer (thus making it a 2 layer) head gasket and it works pretty well. Golden Eagle makes a lot of Honda head gasket applications, you could check with them. Not sure how much you want to do to the motor, but I'll assume from your post that you want to build it, so here's a list of cleanup and performance mod stuff. I'll also assume that the motor is > 140k miles since it's a 94 and the head gasket is blown.

Things to do while you have the head off:
- Timing belt and water pump unless they're pretty fresh (you'll have good access)
- Adjustable cam gears
- Valve job, pressure test, general cleanup of the head at a machine shop
- Port/polish
- Good head studs (I used ARP, but there are other good brands too)
- Phenolic spacer or Hondata heat shield for the IM gasket
- Fuel filter (you'll have better access to the bottom bolt which can be kind of a bitch)

I guess that's all I can think of off of the top of my head. Have fun.

thanks alot for all of the info... yea the motor has about 153k on it as of now. i wanna do the bottom end, but the head has had the leak for a bit now and i dont want it to get any worse then what it is. if i do decide to change the pistons. i was thinking about changing them to the type r pistons. does that sound decent enough on a budget ?? and do you think i would have to bore out my cylinders for this job. or is a hone job fine ?
