uhm, thats very interesting, isnt the tape breaking? I have to throw the hatch vbery hard for it to close, ive checked it like 20 times and nothing looks wrong with it, it also makes noise, im going to try the electrical tape.

1.i know my rear sway bar hits the muffler, causing a bump sound every time my rear suspension moves, if this happens you have to modify the exhaust a little

2. i have a short shifter that rattles against the cat because of the leverage difference.

3. make sure all the spare tire/tools/etc are tied down, they cause a rattle too

4. if its a hatch, the roof supports tend to get dented in, and the roof pops back out but is allowed to vibrate and exentuate any noise in the cabin.

if none of those help, just ride in the backseat of your car while someone drives listening to where the noises come from.

when i put the tape on there, i wrapped it around 3 or 4 times, it makes it harder to shut, but ya, it stopped the rattles for me

you could also add or remove the factory shims that are under the hatch striker

There are also bumpers on the underside of the hatch you can adjust..

For the electrical tape trick,
Use some 3-M brand Super 33+..

A c-pillar bar quieted some things down in the rear. A figure a rear strut bar would do the same.

exactly what i was going to say.
remove those shims and then apply a generous amount of grease to the latch and close it.
