Race only, what would be the highest compression you could run on gas? (~117 octane)

I remember reading an article where Eric's Racing was saying they were approaching 18+...

 

On gas? or methanol?

 

Methanol will make better power after 15:1-15.5:1, simply from the ability to have full control over ignition advance from the fast burn.

Leaded race gas can support compression numbers in the 15's, but you will be sacraficing ignition timing. 15:1 is probably right where you want to be if you want to have full control over timing advance.
