Clutch and Flywheel Question
Since I recently burned up my stock clutch, I'm scouting for a new one. My car shifts fine and I'm sure it will for while, but it makes some noise when I depress the clutch when it warms up (the car). My question is, if I replace it with a stock clutch, which I can get for $130, can I still put a 7.5lb flywheel in since I will have the clutch taken apart anyways? Or is it better/safer to put in say an ACT or Clutchmasters clutch kit instead (which will run me over $300)??
Experience says:
You will be much better off doing the whole thing. If you actually "burned up" the disc chances are the flywheel needs tending to and it is just as easy to do all of it. Be sure to get the parts matched as a set and also install both a NEW throwout bearing and maybe a pilot bearing in the end of the crank as well. That is how I do them.
