Speed limiter on '97 Civic HX????
My 97 Civic HX stops any acceleration at 95mph in 4th gear
Unless I get a small "hill" or something it won't go past 95mph. Its a 5spd, is there a fuel cut off on it or something? It is far from redline in 4th gear, but it just stays a constant 95mph once you hit it. If you shift to 5th, stays the same speed...Can this be fixed...and how?

i have heard of a chip or something i forgot what it was called but it limits the car to a certain speed.. this is mainly on new cars though that rich people buy their kids... hmmmmm i forgot what the name of it was but i doubt thats what u have...

If you are 1/4 mile with a stock hx i don't think you need to worry about anything above 95.
Show me a autocross track that lets you get above 95.
And no one takes a stock hx civic to a track you can go faster then 95.

could disconnect your speedsensor, or run a switch to the wire so you can cut it off, the computer wont know how fast its going so it shouldn't stop....works on 240's.

its not your govenor. just like sohcvtec said. your dont have enough power to go past 95. i took mine to 120 then the govenor kicked in. its not the ecu either as someone stated b4. put some simple bolts ons, on your car and maybe youll reach 100.

he'd have plenty of power to go over 95, espcially if hes running a "low" rpm in 4th at 95, i've gone 120 in a 91 civic dx, and i'm sure it has more power then a 91 hatch.
Very long gears, but no matter how long I stay on it, it won't go. It pisses me off, its embarassing...haha. I got a short ram air intake, and thats about it. Any problem for you around 100 mph?
You have to get you ecu chipped out with no rev limiters your car has a governor on it it wont aloow it above 95 mph. once you get your ecu chipped you could rev it till it blows if you want

WRONG. the governor is at 120. IMO there is no need to chip a ecu unless you have some serious power. please read up about the y5. there is more you need to learn about this wonderfull motor before you start ******* with it.
