Default Speedometer inaccuracy

Hey all, don't know if many people saw my previous thread about finishing my cluster swap... but it involved the removal of my speedo needle. I think I have it fairly accurate right now but I'd rather know before a ticket

I searched but I couldn't find any people relating RPMs to speed on a d15b7 95dx. But searching did yield a link to this calculator...

http://crx.honda-perf.org/math/index.html

If I put in DX for my tranny and the proper tire size would this get me #'s close to actual for my car?

For 3k rpm I got
1st - 15.85
2nd - 27.2
3rd - 40.9
4th - 54.99
5th - 66.83

Does this sound right to people? I'll be happy if I can get my speedo within 2-3 mph of actual.

Thanks!

Most people know the cars limits on redline over 3k or any other rpms.

I remember my dx tranny redlines mph were something like:

1 - 40-45
2 - 65-70
3 - 90 100
4th 120
5th 120 (i dont know how far 5th goes because of govern)

Hope that helps a little.

I think my redline is at 6500, the new tach has different gauges with 7200 but my stock engine can't get there I'm sure (nor do I want to kill my car )

I put in my stats on that calculator at 6500 and got 34.35 for 1st which means the calculator might not be accurate for my situation (as said I don't know the true redline sothat could be wrong)

Thanks for posting.

Are you using the stock DX tranny from a D15b7? Those things have long *** gears.

I checked my calculations out on the drive home and it turns out to be very accurate for 1st-4th but the 5th is way out.

Anybody able to confirm these on their stock eh2 dx? Keep them in mind when you're driving next time and maybe let me know. I'm willing to bet that my speedo is pretty much on the money if the 1st 4 line up so well and that it's the calculator for the CRX doesn't apply to my transmission exactly. But in the interest of true knowledge I hope to hear some other corroborating evidence.

Thanks to anyone who takes note!

Every time I drive by one of those Police Radars where you see your speed on the scoreboard type thing. I always try to hit 100 because when you do that the thing says 'TOFST' which is Too Fast... I'm guessing that would be an accurate way of testing your speedometor to the radar thingy.....

There is one on a speed limit sign in this canyon I drive through sometimes. It says 45Mph and I got up to about 90 before braking for the upcoming turn. But there is no camera attached to that. I don't think it would say TOFST on the one i drive by though since it is only 2 digits.

O the ones we have are L.E.D. but if they have cameras in them...I haven't been caught yet......BTW my speedo is off 3mph and I have the stock gauges.....I think I could fix it if I got in there and moved the needle down where it starts at zero to a lower point but i'm too lazy.
