Default parts washer solvents

i know some of you guys out there have parts washers. i got a 20gal one for christmas. now that the season is approaching, and it's getting warmer outside, it's time to get to work on some things.

what do you guys recommend for use?

I'd like to know also. An old mechanic freind of mine said they used to sell a "parts washer solvent" but said that in CA at least they probably out lawed it. I dunno if its true, and haven't looked around at all.

I use Gasoline, brake fluid and kerosine.. Works well.. Just wear gloves and rinse after washing..

we use parts washer solvent, which is a lot like kerosene(like kerosene mixed with something else).. my dad ordered it, so I'll have to ask him.. we need some more in fact..

using brake fluid scares me.

I like to use Varsol in mine. I buy at a local oil company.

Diesel works best, I guess its because it has a little more oil in it then gas. For a quick was I just use some brake cleaner.

I found a great industrial supply house... they carry everything: solvents, aluminum sheets, any bolt in any grade i could ever think of, etc...

All the legal stuff in CA is water based now. At least thats how it is for shops- home users might be able to get away with the bad (good) stuff.
