Default A question for those that know about D series motors...please help

Here's the story. Merging into fast moving and heavy traffic i rode first gear at wide open throttle to redline and banged second hard. Just shy of redline (estimated since i have no tach in my dx) in second something went wrong...indicated by a huge loss of power. So i let off the gas and came to a stop...This is when i noticed the following...
1) the engine feels like it is running on at least 1 dead cylinder (i figure this from the shaking, and the *blub blub blub* sound the motor makes) maybe two but i doubt it since i dont think my d15 will run on only two cylinders
2) i can smell unburnt gas coming from the exhaust
3) the oil light came on but only while the motor was idleing, once i revved her up the light turns off (and as a matter of fact it flickers off as revs climb in perfect sequence to the aforementioned dead cylinder sound aka *blub blub blub*) also the oil light will also only come one once the motor warms up, hence it stays off while the motor is cold
4) the motor is not making any unusual noises other than all the rattleing from things vibrating (exhaust heat shield, hood, bumper) but it shakes badly
5) i checked my oil and it did not drop in level and has no signs of foam (at least on the dipstick it doesn't) and i checked my coolant and there are no signs of motor oil
6) my cap rotor and plugs are pretty new so i doubt they are at fault
7) does not overheat
I have been driving the car for two days now like this in stop and go traffic and on the highway at up to 65 mph but she struggles to get up hills and bogs down as if it's going to stall occasionally when maintaining speed where i just give it more gas and it'll keep moving...poorly but moving...please throw me some opinions as to what happened and where to begin troubleshooting asap..thanks

If it's missing on one cylinder first determine which cylinder. With the engine running, pull a spark plug wire off and if there is no difference in how the engine runs, that's your dead cylinder. Next, determine whether the dead cylinder is getting spark, fuel, and finally, compression compared to the other 3.

i'll bet your timing belt jumped a tooth or two.

sorry last night i posted under my bro's account...damn cookies...anyway i did a compression check and got no readable compression on the first cyl from the dist. side ( dry or wet) meanwhile the 3 others spat out almost 200 psi...and i noticed that all of my one week old plugs were covered in black soot. i pulled the valve cover off and noticed that the cyl in question did not drop a valve and none of the stems on the cylinder in question look mangled or even bent?
I'm confused...would i be able to see somthing from the top view of the head...i guess a total loss of compression can only mean bent valves right? but why would bent valves cause my oil light to come on?

Try this:

Pull both your 1 and 4 spark plugs out.
Take a dowel and put it down #4 spark plug hole and determine where the piston is in the cylinder. Then do the same thing on the #1 cylinder and see if its at the same height.

Then blip the starter with the key to get the motor to rotate around a little. Re-check. See if #1 is where it was last time, and see if its in the same position as #4.

If its not the same height as #4, or never moves, you probably snapped a rod?

All I can think of!

it's probably a bent valve but i wonder if the bottom end is ok
