Default 98 Si? Possible?

Hello people
I bought a 98 Civic 2 years ago but I didn't know much about Civics at that time. But now I know more and it seems to me that my Civic was probably wrongly tagged. It's a Canadian 98 Coupe with no V-TEC. I can't find info on it anywhere. The closest thing I could find is a hatch. And some look at me funny when I say 98 Si. Some guy told me it's actually a SOHC VTEC so they didn't print it on the valve cover. I think the car was either previously crashed and replaced with a D-series or it's not the correct badge (but then it also says Si on the ownership). I'm a little stumped here any help about this would be great.

btw. I can't check the VIN number or anything like that because I'm in Toronto and the car is in Ottawa for at least another 5 months (Apartment, College, food.. can't afford a car right now)

the Si, in Canada is the ex in the states
sohc vtec d16y8 engine - you'll see the engine stamp on the block's left side, on a flat plate.

you can also see the vtec solenoid on the y8's head on the left side, on the rear - it looks like a thimble or a small metal shot glass

The dohc b16 civic, in canada, is the SiR (as it is everywhere else in the world)

Thanks a lot!
I finally know I wasn't ripped off. If only the insurance company knew that its not really a VTEC!

By "not really a VTEC" I mean not a really powerful one.
(just wanted to make that clear)
