Default K20A Integra Type R swap in 04 EP3

I was wondering what all is need to setup K20A Type R in 04 EP3. How will the immobilizor be affected and what kind of header/exhaust would I need to buy...(for ep3, euro civic type r, or rsx type S.) I heard that some header/exhaust will not fit unless I run civic type r sway bars. Any info would definintely be appreciated. Thank you in advance

Well when running with the k20a( type R) motor you should get the complete package: engine, tranny, and ecu.

The ITR engine has no immobilizer from what I have read.

All you would need would be the engine, tranny, ecu and hasport motor mounts and you are good.

ive read on here that reflashing your stock ecu with hondata would work too. so i guess you would just need the motor and tranny

So I couldn't use my EP3 mounts for the K20A type R? And how much does it run for the hondata reflash?

How bout header...What headers can I run so I dont have to run Civic Type R EP3 sway bars. I was told that only certain headers will fit, most of them (toda, mugen) will require running CTR EP3 swaybars, because the headers will not clear the SI EP3 swaybars.

IF you keep all emissions parts, it should pass the sniffer, just dont take it somewhere where they are familiar with hondas or they will know you have an ITR swap

Kind of off topic... but if you were to put an a or an a2 head on the a3 block... could you get it to have the highlift cam function with it?

well california typically no its not legal unless u ref it and the ref rule is," engine bay must look like the integra." so all wires or different shaped pipes like intake tube if its different then change it all...BUT see this is kind of like the B20B in a LS integra. u cant tell the difference unless u really know what ur looking at...and a new car? they wouldnt even bother because they figure its not even an option because the damn cars so new...ud be fine no one will know...

Man, CA make you jump through hoops like no other. What happens if all you guys started registgering your cars in other states, like if your uncle lived in Nevada or something????

On the subject at hand, everything I have read says the swap is a direct bolt in, I dont remember if you even need replacement motor mounts. I think you could actually just drop in the motor, trans and ecu and attach it to you current intake and exhaust. Of course you could also go with something like the Jackson race SC with a good intake and exhaust system, putting down something like 220 whp when well tuned. I like the k20a as much as anyone, but the Jackson setup with k-pro and i/h/e seems like another cost effective way to put down some good numbers for a DD. Just my .02.

you should look into doing something like a frankenstein... for ex. the K20A2 head with a K24A2 block.. the K24a2 block is a 2.4 L to my understanding has more torque and few more horses..

I have a K20A in my 04 EP3. You can use the stock mounts from a EP3 they are the same as the K20A motor mounts. Usually when you order a K20A complete swap it will come with motor mounts. I ordered my motor from hmotorsonline and it came complete. For the exhaust and header setup, I would use the stock k20a upper half of the exhaust manifold and use a vision or spoon lower exhaust manifold. For the exhaust you can get any ep3 exhaust but it has to be modified. I have a greddy evo exhaust already modified for sale. I'm asking 250+shipping. You can use the k20a ecu but you have to jump your fuel pump wire so the car will start. if you just plug in a k20a ecu into the car the car will not start. I used the stock 04 SI ecu and got the ecu k-pro'd from hondata. the k-pro still retains immobilizer. If you have any other questions let me know. I've pretty much done anything possible to my ep3, so i know what works and what doesnt.

Hey...thanks for the info. I'm about 6 months from doing my swap...so I will definitly hit you up. I will probably run the K pro than since I could retain my immobilizer. What exact kind of modification do I need to run other exhaust systems. I was thinking about DC but not sure if they make one for the EP3. I will let you know if I'm in a position to purchase your exhaust....till than I will keep up with you to gather info on swap...thanks again.

right now the full-race kit is very appealing, but i doubt they have a kit that fits the k24... plus, how similar are the k24 and the k20? will i be able to fit k20 aftermarket products onto the k24?

boosting my k20a3 w/ a2 header still sounds more appealing...

I am just waiting for my engine to arrive before my K20a swap. Did you have any issues with the shifting mechanism in your EP3? I heard some modifications needed to be done to get it to work properly.
