I have a 99 civic ex coupe...i was planning on swapping a 94-95 gsr motor into my car...and its gonna be a complete motor, with tranny, axles, ecu, wire harness...so basically a complete swap..and i was wondering would i still need a OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness or not?

did searches for about an hour and no luck...!!!

 

yes and no , you could go without it but it would require a lot of wiring work, just spend the 50 bucks and plug and play

even if i use a complete wire harness i still would need a OBD2 to OBD1 if i didnt wanna do all the wiring?

 

You need the conversion harness to plug in the OBD1 ecu (different plugs). And you'll also need to convert some parts over (wiring wise). Look in the FAQ thread, I know for a fact there are a few threads about it (might be about putting an OBD2 motor in an OBD1 car, but you just reverse the process).

I don't mean to jack the thread but how bout a OBD II to OBD I, into an EK that is non-vtec? Still need that harness? Planning to do a b16 swp soon... thanks

Another thing you need to realize is, there is no plug and play for that motor into that car. You will have to do some wiring.
The integra harness will not fit in your civic. Your civic has a 1 piece harness that runs from the engine into the ecu. The integra has a 2 piece harness, that runs from the engine, to the shock towers, where it plugs into the integras main harness(which runs into the ecu).

Your need to:
Reuse your stock civic harness. Change the plugs for the injectors, distributor, and alternator to obd1 plugs. Run the wires for the IAB(one wire to a 12v source, the other to the ecu), get the obd2B-obd1 jumper harness, and then plug in the obd1 ecu.

There are also a couple mounts you need to get from the '99-00 Si.

 

so what if i get a 97+ complete gsr swap...are there any extra wiring or modifications i need to do with my wirings?
