You COULD make decent power. Dyno or street tune with a wideband and you will see some good gains.

yah maybe around the 130whp area. with a good header and some tuning, maybe even squeeze some more out of it.

im sure you have...you dont know much about sohcs do you. there are a lot of variables that determines if the motor will make power. and i wish everyone would stop quoting that honda tuning ITB thing. that car makes 129whp!!!!!

Actually if you look at the graph closely in the article, it was more like 115-120 whp. There was a gigantic spike at the end that caused it to read 129.

i posted this on sohchonda.com, "i think the first dyno graph is a more accurate portrayal of what the ITBs gained. that last dyno has a crazy spike, which wouldnt even be useable power. any more updates on this setup?????"

and he replied

So, can you share some more details of your setup now?

yeah I can answer whatever questions now, I just didn't want to talk about it before the issue came out.
btw, I've cleaned up the dyno graphs now, it is a relatively smooth 129-ish whp curve now.

here is a link to the thread, graphs on the first page, the above statements on the last page. http://www.sohchonda.com/ipw-w...art=0

the car is currently consistantly making 130whp dyno runs, no spikes, no bullshit. The spikey stuff was the lack of proper engine management on the first day (the P28 that I had got all messed up) so it was on a P2P ECU w/ a VAFC and a check engine light . Anyway, now it is on Uberdata, which has smoothed things out, a whole lot, it is a consistant 130whp after a good day of tuning. I'll say this though, it never made 158whp, ever. The 130 is probably all I'm going to pull out of it in this form, uberdata is fine for the WOT dyno runs, there are some part throttle complications, but it daily drives fine (after hours of WB datalogging on the street) without Alpha-N it isn't going to be perfect. so until I step up the engine management it'll still shoot flames out the tailpipe on tip-in after decel I may do a build similar to what the thread starter is talking about in the near future, I say a well built D16 vtec w/ the PM7 pistons and a decent set of bolt ons will be good for 150+ make sure you think hard about a cam for it though, D's REALLY don't like high comp on stock cams. eh, at any rate, keep reading HT there is more to come

thanks for the refferals. We've been D-fans since the beginning and never looked back on them.
You don't know how much I dealt with through the late 90s trying to keep the D-series alive. During the ZC and B16 craze, I still kept on promoting the d motors.
I'm so glad that alot of you are into them now and willing to try new things with the D-series.

bambooseven: see you again soon at a local event.

IT IS MY ARTICLE!!! IT IS MY CAR!!! I THINK I"D KNOW WHAT KIND OF POWER IT MAKES!!!

after tuning the spikes out of it and smoothing everything out it makes a nice, safe, reliable, daily driven 130whp. refer to my previous post.
