Default HELP b20 vtec blowing oil filter seal. SEARCHED

i have a built b20 vtec with 12.5 comp and skunk stage 2 cams. i noticed the oil filter seal popping and leaking. i tried like 4 diff filters yesterday. all blew. i tried the s2000, fram, purolator, and like 3 cheap ones from my buddies shop. all wit the same result. i used one of the plugs in the back of the block and put a fiiting wit a pcv valve to the intake manifold. still no luck .

please help

Might be a basic question, but to be sure...

Have you checked to see if there is another oil filter gasket stuck to the block from an old filter?

will a catch can solve the problem, im leaning toward to much crank case pressure. so if i install a catch can for the block, then make 2 holes in the valve cover using fittings to run 2 lines to a diff catch can. should that fix my problem.

any other solutions,

fabs

doesn't make sense

have you put a guage on the engine to see what the oil pressure is doing?

are you sure you tightened the filter enough?

only other thing i can think of is the mating surface of the oil filter is warped

do b20s have factory oil coolers like the gsr's? if so you might want to check to see if its that seal thats leaking and not the filter

Your relief valve in the oil pump is stuck closed. The filter is before the oil pressure sensor, so that info will not help, the seal will blow before you see the high oil pressure.

DonF gave you the answer. The stock pump on cold oil with the relief valve stuck closed can make well over a hundred pounds as soon as you hit the throttle.

i pulled the oil pan off and checked the valve seemed to be fine. i put the pan back on put a fram filter(3593a) and turned the car on, i let it sit and then the leak still didnt stop. the oil presure did go down to 80 instead of 95. what else can cause this.

Something may be stuck in the oil passages which is creating the high pressure. Since the oil filter gasket is the "weakest" exit it will blow through first and leak. If something is stuck in the paasages its going to be quite hard to figure out where. Good luck.

i am gonna try the catch can to see if it will help. if that fails then i will drop the motor and rip it apart to see what is goin on. that will suck cause this motor only has 1000 miles.
