Default CRX HF Engine

I'm tading my 17 in konig rims and wheels for an HF engine. My question is: If I put a Vtec-e head what can I expect from this engine. gas milage, power, etc... I'm really looking for gas milage now. my family car took a **** and my project is the closest thing i have almost ready to run

If you put a vtec-e head on it you can expect it not to run..Because hf motors are 8 valve and have only 2 valve releifs on the pistons in the center..So it wont work with the 16 valve head unless you put in some 88-91 16 valve pistons..Just leave the motor alone..Because you will never see power out of that motor without some serious work..If anything just get a stock rebuild

My friend did something for power..
He put in d15b2 pistons and put on a dx head with a exospeed cam..Then he converted the motor to carberator and made some good power..

Even though I am not a fan of 17's, you would be getting the short end of the stick if you traded perfectly good rims for a motor that has to cost in good running condition no more then $50ish.

He never dynoed it ..
It ran 13.9 at 93mph at e-town..
88 crx hf gutted with a zc tranny on some vw steelies with falken azenis..
Also he ran a thinner headgasket to raise compresion..And he made a custom intake manifold for 2 weber sidecraft carbs..That car souned so good with the exospeed race cam ..It was lumpy idle..

I think your getting the short end of that trade. The rims are probably worth around 400 and you trading for an engine people throw away. I have the HF and it is so goddamn slow. you can get d16's (not z6's or y8's) for like 100-150 bucks with more power in them with usualy lower miles.

i am pretty sure you could trade your rims for a fully running CRX hf.

The hf is not worth doing anything at all. If you try to get more power out of it...your fuel mileage also goes down. In the end it isnt worth it.

you are crazy the hf cars are the best car for engine swaps...if you you want a light weight chassis. HF = Greater than all.

Very true. Especially if you find an 88 hf.

One of my biggest problems is that my baby sits outside naked (nothing in the engine bay) Some idiot tryed to put and 89 teg engine and it never ran at all infact they moved the driver side mount brace to do this. Then they tried to make a special tranny mount fo the teg tranny insted of just getting an SI tranny. Poor thing I havd to buy it to save it. Now I'm just eager to see it run. The Teg engine is good and all but I don't want to deal with it. Loo at my signature. I'm so pissed they put that engine in there I just want to get rid of it so Bad. Still runs and all and never been turned on af the rebuild. Give me 50 bucks and its yours ~ LOL.
