Default VIS Carbon Fiber Hood

I just ordered the OEM style VIS carbon fiber hood for my 99 gsr and I was wondering if it can be used without hoodpins...? I had a cheaper one on there before and it bounced up and down around 60 mph so I sent it back. Will this one be as sturdy as the stock steel hood at about 110 mph or so?

you dont' need hood pins.. but it would be wise to get hood pins, it will be more secure that way and you wont' have to worry bout it popping up....

Will it bounce up and down?

Are there any hoodpins made that aren't visible from the outside, that latch somehow underneath?

Mine didn't bounce up and down on my rsx, but I didn't go any faster than 100mph. And no to your 2nd question, becuase it would defeat the purpose, if its latched from below then that means it would have to be latched to carbon fiber, which can tear off.

If someone were to get hood pins, which brand is good? Im planning on getting a CF hood and really dont want to use hood pins. Im hoping the VIS wont rip off if you exceed 100..cuz I plan on road racing at willow springs over summer and i'll have my hood by then.

edit: the reason they came loose is because it was bouncing up and down

You can... it may or may not fly up at you. I have a friend who had his for a long time until one day it just flew up.

well you do realize.. some hood pins will actually help prevent theft..... cause most hood pins actually have a lock that requires a key to unlock it... therefor... is someone broke into your car.. they wouldn't be able to pop the hood and disconnect the battery or cut the wire to the horn....
