volk knock offs
Hi I need to decide what rims to get, and i'm going crazy. i would love to go with the te-37 but i just dont want to spend that much. i know Rota makes some but theyre only 15, i want 16's also i know Konig makes some but they dont have bronze, which is what i want. Are theyre any other companies? or any other clean light rims that you guys recomend? PLEASE HELP!
I think Arospeed might make a TE-37 look-alike in a bronze 16". Check wheelmax.com or just do a search for "Arospeed" on Google or Yahoo.
Unfortunately for those of us who have to do our tuning on a budget, you usually get what you pay for with wheels. So I wouldn't recommend you get anything too cheap, or you might end up spending just as much on repairs and replacements.
Rotas and ADRs seem to be relatively popular. You might also look into the O.Z. Superleggera or SSR Competition from the Tire Rack. They're both gunmetal, and I'm pretty sure they're both available in 16" sizes. They're not cheap, as in only $115 per wheel or anything. But I think they're still less than a new set of Volks. Which reminds me, you could always try finding a set of Volks used, either on this board or on eBay. Or go for the Konigs and have them powder-coated.
Good luck!

formula f1's almost exactly the same " look wise" available at wheeloptions.com ( give or take the S. im not sure) they also sell the volk stickers at 4$ each ( 8$ a wheel)
Rota's come in 16" also for their Slipstream, Circuit8, and Subzero wheels. I've heard (and seen) too many cases of ADR's breaking to take a chance with them, especially the kind of luck I normally have, so just a word of caution there. The Formula F1's are nice. My friend's sold a ton of those and I got to look at several sets and they were very nice. However, i think they stopped making all of the formula line, either that or they stopped importing them, so if you can find a set, kewl, but I don't think there's many left. I know they have the Formula F2's at Wheeloptions still cuz those weren't as popular, but I don't think they have any more F1's or F4's(Advan RG copies). I can get you these wheels for a good price, they're D-Power TS-05's and weigh about 1lb/inch, so it's about 16lbs for 16":

If you're interested, IM or email me ( jainikke@yahoo.com ) to remind to find out the price for you. I think they're only about $130-$140/wheel. HTH.

hi maybe you should look into the kosei k1 racing or enkei rp01. both are cheap relatively lightweight rims that look real clean. tirerack sells the koseis in white silver or anthracite for $159 for 16X7.5 and discount tires sells the enkeis for $120 for 16X7.5
actually i just purchased 1 wheel from them during christmas, they dont have many in stock, i saw a 5 lug version , and they had 4 lug versions of silver adn gunmetal i believe, you shoudl look into the new line of 5zigen 5 lug black wheels, they have a pic on the cover of supersreet on the RSX i saw these wheels 1st hand and damn .. they are NIIIIIIIIIICEEEEEEEEEE .. but anyways .. i had to pay 250$ for 1 wheel shipped to my house, he said it was a bit more expensive because i was just purchasing one ( i crashed my car and cracked the wheel in 4 places .> BUT !! it did not totally break like ADR's do where the spokes and the outer diameter fall apart .. i crashed into a curb aroudn 60 MPH or so while i was gin 90 on a lon left and short right .. when i cut back to the right the back slid out and i went intot he curb .. only the outer lip sheered off the wheel, which mkes me think that these wheels are pretty darn strong .
well that's good to hear, but i'm not shure what wheels youre talking about? do you mean the rota's? the same thing happened to me about a year ago with my stockies and they bent in half, funny enough there were no cracks. Oh i just realize that you wrote the post about the formula ones, i hadn't seen those ones yet i called today and he said he'd have to special order them, but they look nice. i'd take off the stickers. can you post a pic of them on you car? i wrote to rota today and they dont make them in a 16, seems dumb. thanks

cool, i realized after i wrote that. I think i'm gonna get those in a 16 bronze. what color and size did you get and how does it look? Also if i go through this company they want me to pay upfront (cause it's a splecial order) and i dont want to get ripped, are they safe to trust? thanks
hm .. i got 17' in white i paid cash up front while i was in southern california on vacation, and i ttook them abou 2-3 weeks to send it to me but eventually it got here in good condition and the quality is prety good. they're safe to trust becuase they are discount tires, there all over california, its a big company.
Alright, thats good to hear. i'm gonna do some price comparing and i'll go for it. I'd love to see pics if you have any. oh and do the stickers come off? thanks for the help
If you're asking about discount tire centers, yeah, they do a LOT of business and that particular DTC is actually a huge distributor of wheels to many socal import shops. Oh, and yeah, the stickers are removable. I didn't know the F1's were still being made. I guess they're just not importing them in large quantities anymore and are now on an order-only basis. I used to have pics of cars with the F1's but can't find them anymore. I'll post them if I find them.
speaking of *cough* ADR's breaking *cough* http://chadmiller.home.mindspring.com/wreck/
YEAH mattl thats what's going to happen to you when we race. I going to beat you and out of madness you are going to drive into a curb. Yes it would be me running 0.1 sec slower in the 8th.

Ok, after searching around a little bit it appears that the Formula F-1's are made by Nippon Racing. The confusing thing is that in some Formula F-1 pics, there are 4 holes while in other pics there are 8 holes. Does anyone know which ones are currently being sold (4 or 8 holes). Not sure if it was a running change or something.
