Accelerated hard and heard a clunk from engine, extreme rattling at high RPM, car drives okay though
I was driving kinda hard yesterday and heard a big clunk if you will from my engine bay and really thought nothing of it cause my car was still driving okay.
When I hopped on the highway and got the revs up to about 4k rpms I heard an extreme rattling noise coming from the motor of my vehicle. I will be removing the head shortly but was wondering what the noise could be. Again, I do knew for sure it is coming from the head but the car stiill drives okay. Any help would be appreciated.

You know for sure it's coming from the head?? Sure it's not a heatshield?? or that the donut gaskets in your exhaust system(front or back) aren't seized?? If they seize they do make a very annoying rattling type noise.

I thought I ight have broke an exaust bolt or something but I checked underneath and everthing was in tact, no heatshield, running a Toda header.

Something came loose. Jack it up and check suspension. Look over engine bay and report back your findings.
Good luck!

Again we have narrowed it down to the motor, I ma at the shop now and we placed one of those mechanics stethoscopes on it and heard it in the head. I will post results and pics when done. Any more advice is appreciated.

Well I fell like an idiot. We removed the valve cover and everything was in tact.
When we went under the car we noticed the long bolt that supports the or holds the alternator in place had come undone. The clunking noise I heard at first was the bolt flying off and the ratttling was from the alternator starting to loosen up.
I fell such a relief now it's unreal. Thanks for evryones help.

So what was it that they heard in the head? J/P At least it wasn't anything too serious.

Maybe the sound was resonating up there I don't know but I know the nut that came off was the sound I heard and the arttling was the bolt coming undone from the alternator. Man, i'm just happy as hell it was'nt any more serious.
