Is the LS Integra allowed in H3 of the Honda Challenge?
Is the LS teg allowed in H3 if the motor/trans/everything else was just like a GSR? I have read in the rules that you can do a "body swap"... is that what this is considered?
Yes. The "everything else" is easy on the DC2 Integras since they are all the same with the exception of the ITR.
On the Civics it gets to be a little crazy.

wow. This is very nice to hear. I've been worrying about having to swap dash's so the VIN would be from a GSR.
Or you could buy Karl Shultz's GSR, which is already totally legal for both H3 and ITS. And buy it for less than you could build one (I promise).
The LS/GSR swap is not legal for ITS.

Swapping, removing, or altering VINs is usually a felony, especially a primary one like that. Doesn't matter if the car is registered and street driven or not.

? hmmm. Then how do you go about a "legal" dash swap? (I have a swapped dash in my street car and race car)

Swap dashes all you want, it won't make the car illegal. REmember you still have the original vin on the body inside the door and on the firewall.
I've been considering ripping my vin off my dash.

My VIN plate was a victim of the cage install.
IT rules state that there must be 2 corresponding VINs. I've still got two.

Why wouldn't the LS Integra be in H4? All the other ITA Honda's are in H4. How's an LS suppose to keep up with a GSR anyway?
edit - nevermind, reading ownz me!

I think what you are asking is "can I take an LS body shell and mechanicals and drop in a GSR tranny and engine". Technically this would be a swap and put you in H1 under strict adherance to the rules but in reality no one should care.
All three of our cars (Zimmerman, Carpenter, and Kofod) were technically GSR bodies with LS engine and tranny...the reverse of what you are doing. We checked ahead with the ECHC direcctors and they said it's basically an H4 car since there is no difference structurally between and GSR and LS shell, save for the sunroof.
However, if you plan to race SCCA it get's a bit more complicated. I was told by the people in my region that they didn't care that it was a GSR (VIN says so) with LS mechanicals, but if I wanted to go to other regions or the ARRC I could be successfully protested.

Right.
Basically, its one of those things that nobody *should* or *would* care about. And theres a 99.5% chance that you'd never get protested.
But, it IS technically illegal, so if someone did choose to protest you it would be easily upheld and you'd get booted.

why run in H3? H4 has a lot more competition, GSR engines are more expensive and of course there is always the option of buying a race car since there are many of them for sale.
