brake pads. Brembo sport vs hawk hps ?
So i'm looking for a good set of brake pads.
i'm going to be running brembo blanks for rotors.
and this one site i'm looking at gives you 20bux off if you purchase
brembo pads along with the rotors.
originally my plan was to get the hawk pads,
but this would save me some $$
SOOOoooo, what do you all think?
are the brembo pads any good? Hawk pads come highly recommended>
On the brembos, hows the fade resistance? hows the bite? brake dust?
thanks!

It depends in part on whose pads the site is offering versus the Hawk. How you drive is a factor. Another thing-AEM/Nissin pads are better than stock for daily driving and HPDE, so consider that alternative. If you are doing a lot of autocross or track event sthen you might want something more. I have run the AEM/Nissin pads on all of the honda's on the street and they are just fine for the price. For HPDE the CRX has used several pads and the AEM are preferred unless we running a high braking force track and then we do use something else.
Just my 2 cents from experience

I've actually never heard of anyone running Brembo pads.
Personally Bobcat's for daily & P+'s if you don't mind some noise.
I loved the sound of P+'s in the morning.

I had Hawk HPS pads on my S2000, and they were not noticeably better than the stock pads -- they faded really badly after just a few road course laps. I'd stay away from them for any car intended for track use (well, for any car, period).

HPS means "High Performance <u>Street</u>"
They don't even pretend to be suitable for track use. They are only meant for street and maybe autocross use. Hawk HP+ or Axxis Ultimates for street, autocross, and light track use (ie HPDE, open track days, etc). For road course competition use, nothing less than true race pads... Cobalt Spec-B and Hawk Blue are popular choices, but you obviously don't use them on the street.
And beware of "tuner" pads and other parts... anything targetted at the ricer/"tuner" market is usually pretty shitty.

Hmm,
I think you guys missed the point,
I'm trying to found out if brembo brake pads specifically are as good as hawk hps,
the site is offering brembo sports only for the discount.
going to be using them for daily, and occasional track day.
performance wise, the track driving is what I want them for specifically.
Want them to be fade free, good strong bite!
curious as to how they dust, but it's not a be all end all.
thanks again!
(oh about the hps vs hp+... I decided on one of those a while ago.. but I can't
remember which it was I decided on now.. haha, go fig).

Well good luck then. As I said, I've never heard of anyone running Brembo pads.

yes i work @ mitsubishi and the lancer evolutions use a brembo pad and to get them we have to call direct to brembo not to mitsu parts. That doesent make it 100% that they manufacture them but its my guess they do. btw if you were going to race and street the car, hawk hps are great if you go any higher you will have problem daily driving on them. most pads higher than the hps have higher operating temps than you would need on the streets. like the hawk, blues before they are bedded in they make lots of noise and before they are heated up they barely stop, but once they have a lap in they are fine.
sti, evo, 350z-track use brembo pads as OE. those are good, but there ~300 a set (fronts). so i doubt pads on special are anything great. why not spend a little more money and go with hawks or cobalt friction. somehting that you and everyone else knows work well.
*also, that are you going to be doing with the car with these pads on it? they may be a great autocross pad, but suck horrible for DE's.

I'll be doing everything with this car really.
driving it daily, autox'ing when I can find one near me,
track time as much as my pocket can afford(which isnt much).
fade free operation is key. and i've so used to stock 150k mile cx brakes..
any improvement in bite/power will be a good improvement.
but yeah doesnt look like theres enough info on these pads to warrant
buying them over the hawks..

what the brembos or the hawks?
the brembos I could have gotten a deal on to save money
the hawks I want because from everything i've read they'll do what I need them to do.

I don't think a single person on this thread has said that the Hawk HPS's will do what you need them to do, namely withstand even occasional track use.

I don't know if you're trying to argue (it seems like we're in agreement, but the tone of your post suggests otherwise), but for the record, he asked about the HPS pads' resistance to fade, and I gave him my firsthand impressions. I agree that HPS's are terrible for track use.

well it might come as a shock,
but I actually happen to use the search feature to hunt down info myself,
heh, so I got my opinion of the hawk pads from there.
but it was a while ago, so I might be getting the hps and hp+ confused
the main point of this thread was to find out about brembo pads.
though if you say the hps really suck for track use.. i'll double think that!
