Track whores :- How do your R compounds wear?
G'day!
Just keeping data on my car as i keep making changes. As it stands, my car is handling the way I want, but I'll be trying to fine tune it a little more.
Right now though, I'm trying to understand why my R-compounds are only peeling on the rear tyres, but evenly. The Front's show virtually no sign of wear and I'm definately faster now.
Usually I see the Front's peel - the car does not seem to be oversteering in nature but high Rear Grip.
Peeling - all that melted rubber that sticks to your tyre after 12-15 laps :D
So how do your R-compounds or tyres wear? Any reasons that this might be?

So if I understand the question, you're not really asking about how the tires themselves wear (lose tread depth). You're asking about their proclivity to add chunks of rubber ("marbles") from the track onto the tread.
I must admit, I've never really paid attention to which end adds more marbles. I'm more concerned with which end wears (loses tread depth) - which is definitely the front, a whole lot more than the rear.

I don't know if I understand your question, I don't speak Aussie.
Are you asking why the rears pick up all of the rubber on the track? It is LIKELY because your fronts are sliding around (understeer/power understeer) and knock off any rubber bits they pick up. The rears just get warm enough to pick up the rubber, but don't slide around with enough force to knock it off.
Are your rears really WEARING faster than the fronts? That only seems likely if you have a severe alignment issue, which I doubt.

Like he said, it doesn't matter what you pick up on the track, it'll fall off and you'll pick up some more later.

I run A032R's 205/50/15 Soft compound. Been to 5 track days, I give them 2, maybe 3 days left.
Couldn't be happier though. Going from street tires to R-compounds is worth every penny

try running the hard compounds, theyll last much longer.
i track about 3-7 days a month and had mine last me almost a whole season.

The fronts don't hold onto the marbles like the rears do because they do all the work, accelerating, cornering, and especially (on our cars) braking. What you are experiencing is completely normal.

cools, thanks guys...
Didn't even think of the rubber being picked up off the track....
I thought my rear was getting worked harder than the Front ahhaha
just remembered that my Front use to have all that melted rubber...
