Default Jet-Hot like coatings for manifolds?

I contacted jet-hot and they want $165 to coat a manifold; that seems kinda steep to me.
It would be nice if i could pick up some sort of ceramic knock off powder coating so i could coat my manifold; downpipe; turbine housing and possibly charge piping. I have a spare oven and i know a guy with a powdercoating gun.

So my question is; is there any sort of powder or spray on coatings on the market that can withdstand the temperatures of an exhaust manifold that isnt as expensive as jet-hot?

you need to turn the oven up alot higher than a regular powdercoating oven..

A cheap coating won't last..

copper spray? i use copper spray on my turbine and after the copper melt or whatever it does its a nice charcoal grey, it lasts for a long time, no more looking at rusty turbo parts... i'm sure you could put it on your mani. its just cosmetic though, it won't have any heat reducing benifits like jet hot.

...until it turns GREEN from oxidation. (the Statue of Liberty was made out of copper) So what's worse? Dookie rust brown, or puke green?

I'm assuming from that type of language, you're about 16, or live on the East coast? Am I correct?

I'm just making an observation. That is all.

your right, natural copper does turn green when tarnished. I guess my turbine housing must be blessed then, especially after driving around Spokane's chemically treated streets. Whatever chemistry is taking place with Napa's copper head gasket spray and 1200* + temp my **** is looking clean... but thats just my personal experience. Let me guess, you must be one of them kiddies hangin on Division street with the neon squirters and led tail pipe.

but copper spray is in an aerosol can with a bunch of other ingredients not solid metal like a weather vane or statue. Every time I have got copper spray on the outside of a turbine housing it just turns dark gold at first then gray. nothing even close to green so Im pretty sure you have never tried it or you're severely color blind.

so whos opinion is more valued? someone who has seen it first hand or someone who has probably never even used copper spray and is making an assumption based on the name. just curious.

Make sure the inside gets prepped well and then coated. If you don't coat the inside you are wasting your time and the outside will peel.

I've used cheep ceramic out of a spray can and it lasted a long time. I sold my car about 1 year after i sprayed. I bought a can of "Super High Heat Ceramic Spray (for exhaust manifolds)" for <$5. I sprayed about 15 coats on it (each coat drys super quick)

actually it is; i wonder if you can bake it in an oven so you can coat the inside and have it cure before it burns off

Both coatings are applied and baked in an oven.

I just bought some black Turbo X coating made by Techline Coatings - about $63 shipped from Caswell Plating. Supposed to maintain pigment well over 2000 deg F (think the label says 2400, can't remember exactly). Coverage sounds like it will be good for a manifold, exh. housing and downpipe. I'd tell you more but I don't have the can in front of me (it is oven cure though, semi or full). I'm looking forward to trying this stuff out. Like anything prep work and proper application is key I'm sure.

Hate to bring up an old post but for those that wanted a picture of my stuff when I got it back, here it is. Just received them today. I'm very satisfied with the quality of work. The insides of each item was finished as well. The price wasn't bad at all either, it ended up costing me around 160 for all 4 pieces including shipping back to me.

what kind of coating is on your pan...wouldnt u want it to dissipate heat into the atmosphere..ive heard of coatings that are supposed to aid in that..but not sure..check your PMs (NCRXSI)

It's my understanding that the ceramakrome done inside and out does do that and with the inside finished it aids in shedding oil or something to that effect. Its been a while since I read up on it.
