Default any benefit in removing bottleneck in t1r/N1 combo

i tried searching but came up with no answer........... at the axle back everyone knows the t1r b-pipe and the spoon axle back are bottle-necked to accomodate using the stock peices in either of their places......... but i want to remove the bottleneck and was wondering if it would even make a difference in sound or performance?

if it matters i do have a 4-1 header w/ 63mm collector and a 2.5" carsound cat along with the exhaust so removing the bottleneck would give me a full 63mm exhaust all the way back

thanks for any help

All I can tell U is I have the Apex N1 cat back & I used to have a DC 4-1 header (US) small collector & stock cat. Just by changing to a JDM DC header w/ the 2.5" outlet & a carsound hi flow cat it was like night & day difference! It had more torque from idle to redline. Any bottleneck crap U can remove from the plumbing helps. I just wouldn't go bigger than 2.5" piping on an N/A motor. Good Luck!!!

I run the Greddy downpipe to a cat-sized test pipe, to a USDM-sized Tanabe Racing Medallion. I make 295 WHP. My vote is that the restriction is not worth cutting up your perfectly good exhaust for.

It is not going to make a HUGE difference and not worth the trouble IMO.

I have the original T1R exhaust and removed the bottleneck.

I ordered the parts from Dave at SMS and had a local welder put them on.

I never did a dyno test, and dont have a good butt dyno. But, It must have made a difference.

well.. my old set up was.. jdc dc 4-1 and t1r test pipe and.. t1r b-pipe and spoon n1. WITH bottle necks.

then i modified my t1r b- pipe to fit mugen TL .. sametime i got rid of the bottle neck.

but i cant really tell the power/sound differance cuz i changed my axle back.. but i dont think it will make that HUGE differance. but i know it "feels" better.
