cam gear and distributer question
im doing a mini me on my 90 hf. the head i have doesnt have a cam gear, will my hf cam gear work? also will my distributer bolt up. thanks for the help guys. oh yeah its a y8 head.
Woah, are you doing a mini-me project on the STOCK HF block, if so, it won't work. Back to your question though, you need a Y8 cam gear as they were different (alignment marks relative to the cam) compared to the SOHC cam gears prior.

Why wont it work..?
I heard something about its because the hf is 8 valve and the valve reliefs?
I never did understand though..

On your standard piston (16 valve motor) you have four reliefs as shown here -

On your 8-Valve motor you have two reliefs, one for intake and one for exhasut and they are in the center of the piston, not on the outside corners. You would end up then with your valves potentially coming into contact with your piston more often then not. If he wants to maintain a HF block, he will need to pick up a set of D15B2 or any 1.5L 16 valve pistons.
