I was gonna buy HIDs from an IS300, but they include d2r bulbs because the is300s use reflectors, not projectors.........Can i still use these bulbs with projectors from a different car, or will the d2r casing not fit ??
to my understanding, if you get A6 or S2000 or e55 projectors/lenses (most commonly used for integra retrofits) you are going to have to acquire D2S bulbs as well. You can't use D2R bulbs in the previously stated OEM housings, rendering your existing "HID Kit" useless, that is except for the ballasts.
A6/s2000/e55 projectors + new 4100k D2S bulbs + new or existing ballasts (doesn't matter) =

Stock HID bulbs are pretty cheap nowadays, check on eBay, I think you could get a pair for $100 or so. D2S doesn't have any kind of shield coating on the bulb

HID Planet sells Philips 4100K D2S bulbs for $75/pair brand new.
A D2R can be converted to D2S by removing the black strip around the globe, but I personally wouldn't want a "ghetto'd" D2S bulb.
Both will work with the same ballast, because they both have a D2 base.
