Default NEED mini me help!!!!!

I have done extensive research on this topic...mini me swap....& have come to find out that their are several ways to go about the swap, however I HAVEN'T come across someone who has done the actual wiring of the VTEC into a VTEC controller (such as obd0 spoon vtec controller, apexi, rs type vtec controller...etc). You see I have a 1989 CRX SI with a SOHC non-vtec ZC and I want to add a VTEC head b/c money is tight right now...anywho I want to keep everything @ OBD0 for the time being (is this possible-i know that all d-series are interchangeable) & I need help as to a parts list of what parts to get & how to put the head, wire the vtec, wire any wires that may need to be-(any pictures, diagrams)...etc I am going to use a D16Y8 head (& was planning on using a obd0 vtec controller).
this is what I found for parts...
SOHC VTEC head of your choice (either a Z6 or Y8)
D-series block
SOHC VTEC head gasket (Y8 one will raise C/R)
SOHC VTEC timing belt (use the one for whichever head you are using)
SOHC VTEC sparkplug wires (SOHC Non-VTEC wires will not work on the VTEC head)
VTEC ECU or some sort of RPM activated switch for VTEC
I am I going to run into problems with the spark plug wires of the OBD0, the distributor, any new sensors that need wiring (b/c its a obd2 head).

i have heard many people say running an rpm switch or vtec controller does **** for your car....mini me not done right will run slower then your a6....you might as well spend that extra money on a dizzy ecu and intake mani. vtec controllers arent cheap...

I'm a fan of chipping your current ECU with the fuel maps that are correct for the vtec head. You should be fine if you stay obd0. The a6 dizzy won't fit correctly on the z6 head (bolts won't line up) but you could custom make a bracket to fit it on. The a6 dizzy bolts onto the y8 head, but from my experience even with the dizzy advanced as far as possible you aren't at the correct ignition timing. That just means you have to file out the slots on the a6 dizzy so you can turn it farther. The sensors on the head are all the same. If you change intake manifolds you will need to extend a few plugs.

Ive done a y8 head on my a6 block and it does just bolt up. your obd0 wiring harness will plug right into your new y8 head, exept for I believe there were two sensors on the head that didnt get wired into an obd0 harness. I used the apexi afc2. look around and you will find a wiring diagram. than run the vtec wire right throght your firewall and right to the vtec seloniods green wire with yellow stripe. ITs just a 12 volt switch on and off. I used my stock intake manifold and it worked great. good luck

Several post have mentioned that my obd0 dizzy will fit on the y8 head with no modifications; so I ask why & what would I have to alter in my obd0 dizzy (do I use a obd0 dizzy w/ vtec spark plug wires)? Also if you have the link to the diagram b/c I can't seem to find a "good detail" one. Also if anyone has any detail write-ups/forums (b/c I've looked @ several websites/forums and they are poorly explained or people just say-ohh I did this and that, but nothing that one could use?!!!) of anyone doing a D16A6 with a D16Y8 vtec head. I will eventually go to obd1 (so any info on this wiring/swap would be helpful for future reference).

Default websites for mini me help--NEED MORE SITES!!!!

These are some websites that have some information-like all research you will find out that some people do this swap differently than others and some "write-ups" are poorly written and not to mention that finding actual pics of the swap (as far as adding wires to the ecu...etc...) are rare....I will be doing the same thing as you....Y8 head w/ a obd1 dizzy along with the obd0-obd1 conversion harness to use the P28 ECU (92-95 SI/EX ECU) along with obd1 injectors, and z6 im (and I am seeking help for the conversion)....

Default HELP!!!

I have the following:
D16Y8 cylinder head
ZC non-vtec motor (same as D16A6)
D16Z6 OBX intake manifold
94 Civic AEM Fuel Rail
89 CRX Fuel Pressure Regulator
OBD0 to OBD1 conversion harness
P28 ECU
RC injectors 310cc
Know I have read in a forum that the 92-95 Civic VX, DX, distributor would bolt up (all wholes matching together) to the Y8 head...is that true? (website-https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=295849&page=1.......this is what it says....What you use it a distributor from the 92-95 CX/VX/or DX. They will all bolt CORRECTLY to your Y8 head and will send the CORRECT signal to the OBD1 ECU. The 92-95 Si distributor will work as well, but will need to be modified to bolt to the Y8 head.
And I know that my distributor will bolt up fine, but will the signal be different and can I use vtec spark plug wires on the obd0 dizzy?

correct me if im wrong but i thought the ZC block wont bolt up to any d series? and you need a 92-95 FPR. I also heard that the b16 FPR works even better.

You're thinkin of the obd0 JDM dohc zc.

There is a SOHC ZC (there is a carb'ed one and then a vtec one)

If you want to stay obd0 you can always get a ps9 ECU and chip it and run turboedit with it.

Default MINI ME

So can anyone confirm that a 92-95 DX, CX, VX dizzy will send the correct signal as well as bolt up correctly (not like the SI & EX dizzy which will only have to bolts holding it together) to the OBD1 P28 ECU (as oppose to the SI & EX dizzy)? And will the dizzy connecting plugs be changed to the obd0 connecting plugs?
