88 civic hatch. b16 idle probs
ive had my b16a for about a week now. i ran it tonite. after wooping some ***, my ride's rpms goes syko n shuts off. spark it up again. rpms go up n down gas bogs out n shuts off. what can be the problem, any help ???
check vacuum hoses, clean iacv, check throttle cable, TB adjusting screw, screw in FITV all the way, check spark plugs, check for codes. Thats all I can think of. It has to be one of those just start narrowing them down. I just went through all this.
throttle cable is fine..spark plugs fine. i have spark ...only codes i get is a 23 knock sensor. need to replace that. iacv plugd in.TB is screwd in.
pull out your spark plug wires, if any of therm have white carbon on them, you might be running on 3 cylinders, replace those if thats the case, your gonna wanna fix that knock sensor, and also check to see if your distributor moved to make your timing all fucked up, use a voltometer to troubleshoot....
YEAH MAN ITS LATE N DARK . HAHA N I BE POPN A FEW LIGHT BULBS USING A HANGER LIGHT HAHA..BUT GETTING OUT 4RM WORK TOMAROW IMA DO A MAJOR CHEK UP . CAUSE EH MAN MY BABY NEEDS TO LIVE TO WOOP SOME MORE ASSES -=D

Sounds like the same problem I have (car idle bounces when warm) most likely it is your IACV, you should try to clean it.
Go here http://www.ef-honda.com/ben/ and under "Tech" there is an article on idle that can link you to a "How to" on cleaning your IACV.

LOL, good deal man. It's just a matter of trial and error. You got to follow the swap instructions by the book and double check everything. Hell, even quadruple check them grounds. Glad you and you're new friend made it. Don't tear it up too much at first. Ease her into the new motor. You got to remember that these motors have been sitting somewhere for a while.
