No...he's trying to save you money by you not messing it up and then having someone else do it for more money, losing twice the amount...

If you have a friend that's done this before you should be fine, but if not, just take it to a pro. I've had problems with just putting on my leather steering wheel wrap from Honda, and thats an easy *** thing to do...it's really easy for upholstery to mess up and look horrible...

Nicely put. I have no clue on how to help because I have never done it myself but I liked the comment. I would just pick up a book and read up, or do a search on the internet, I bet you could find all the info you need there.

keep us up to date on the progress and any thing you run into, I am curious how it turns out seeing that I am a poor college student and my car could use a little work on the inside.

the dash is the most difficult piece in the car to wrap ... first you must remove the dash next sand the finish a little to skuff it up then use acetone to get all the oils of the dash ... then spray glue on the dash let it get tacky and spray the glue on the back of your material when both are tacky start forming it to the shape of the dash ... when you finally get it all done cut the edges about a 1/2 in long and glue it behind the dash and reinstall it .....

the hardest part is getting it in all the different shapes on the dash and keeping the material straight ... doing the doors is easy but the dash is really hard my friend does tweed interiors and for a long time he use to hire a guy to do the dash for him because it was too time consuming ...

good luck

I was even cheaper than tweed, I painted every thing..!
Looks great, I did everything flat black and chrysler metalic blue.
The first time I did it I did everything Shiny black and "racing" blue, with light blue/silver, accsents, it looked good at first but with time, (since I rushed to do everything) stuff started to peel, I had orange peel all over the place, so this time I took my time and reupolstered a bunch of stuff and it looks like a pro did it...
All you have to do is take your time...good luck. post pics when you can.

yeah dude that's what i meant you know cause we were talking about the door panels from the begining so i figured we were on the same page here. i guess not though on acount of the fact i had to say all this for the time saving effort of not mentioning "panels" in my previous reply. see i dont like being made out to look like a idiot and i dont take **** very easily.

Yeah, I just went to hifi buys just for rough estimate. Car is a 1991 honda civic hatch. The headliner I was estimated would run me about 800$. My .02? F*** THAT! LoL, I called a friend and told him. He laughed, and said it could be done for 2-300 by him. It'll be sweet when it's done, the interior will be COMPLETELY redone from Navy blue vinyl changed into a combination of black suede/leather/tweed. Why so many materials? Because when you look at the back seat and see (Note: Sarcasim) 1000$ seats and 2.00$ walls. So (to give you and idea) suede headliner, leather sunvisors, corbeau black/plastic (imitation leather) racing seats, black carpet, black floormats (custom stitched with something, not sure what to have it say yet though. Probably "Honda" on one and "LSVTEC" on the other) trim pieces all around (too many to name) on the dash and front door panels to bring the materials together. The backseat is where it all comes together. If you look at the seats you'll see what I mean when I say tweed centerp pieces, leather outer pieces. Custom stitched wording in the "headrest" of it as well. The dash I'm still debating how EXACTLY to do it, but you can bet it'll be clean cut. I'll post as well with px if this thread stays open that long. I hope to see YOUR build on your interior here as well...

By the way, if you take your seats to an upholstry shop, they'll re-wrap it for you however you desire.

Haha, we'll talk when the LSVTEC all-motor is built. But for now, my interior is just crap and something's GOTTA be done. So my engine project is pushed back a little bit to redo the interior. And btw, there's a difference in rice (20 12" W7s, fiberglass everywhere, stainless steel everywhere) and putting in something to look nice, and as stock as possible while still having a touch of class. This is my car that's daily driven, and my chick-magnet (er...not so much right now) so...I WILL see you soon after my engine's complete. Kthx. <3

Eh, let's be mature here, first off...this is honda-tech.com. Not "TeenRides.com" or anything.

-First off...I missed the comment on the tweed. Some people prefer the art of building cars instead of speading money and taking it to other people. Some people actually prefer to jump out there and get their hands dirty and deep.

-The tweed is more of a trim to make everything match up. And I want the experience and skill of being able to re-design auto interiors. Again, some of us plan to gain knowledge and use it. Possibly build a name and open their own shop. Snap, there's a concept that works...

-Finally, dude. Lay off. Some people want to build gutted track-only cars. Some people want street/track daily drivers with mad power and don't give a crap about looks and comfort. Some people build rice. Wait, hold on, for those of you who don't understand RICE...building rice is the are or..."art" of building a fast looking car. Huge wing, insane body kit...more fiberglass than metal, sometimes accompanies by a 100% fiberglass interior and 20 12" subwoofers with enough amplifiers to power a small office building. NOW that you MIGHT have a grasp on the concept of what rice is, perhaps you can backtrack and read what I wrote earlier in a different thread on this. My goal is to keep my car looking clean and modified stock. As in if you were to go buy this car (pretend for a second we're in 1991) and this is the power/luxury model. The mercedes version of a civic, if you will. In other words: No neon lighting, no massive body kit, no 19"s, no TV's, no playstation, still not even any god damn cupholders.

-Finally...if you were simply going to come in here and flame, why be a post-*****, and why be a flamer. Why even waste your time? Dang, I really wish I had that much free time. However, I pay for my car with a job. A job that keeps me all the time. Why? Because I have rent to pay. I have bills to pay. I have a car to build the way I want it. It's what keeps the hobby of carbuilding alive. If we all built the same cars....how gay would the hobby become? But no. A car is a reflection of one's-self. It's a reflection of time, money, sweat, and sometimes blood invested. It's plain to see that you're not near the car-nuts you promote yourself to be otherwise you'd have a firm grasp on all this. So go back to your mom. Ask her for more money. Then go to the shop and buy more 300$ cold-air intakes, 300$ tires, 800$ exhaust pipes, and then take it on the streets to hit a wall doing 90. K? Thnx. See you in another thread...

BTW, just to let you have a clue as to what power plant is in blue-printing of going into this machine...

Ac. Integ B18B1 block. Goal is 300hp, 200tq. Once I meet my mark my goal is a bump up another 50hp, 25tq. When you wanna meet up, I'll see you on a track or a strip. However, I prefer road racing/autox as due to ANY driver can hit the throttle and shift. It takes a driver with skills, experience, dedication, and ***** to go through turns. Not to mention I prefer to show off my skunk2's/KYB struts and suspension tech. sway bars on 205/40-17's. Do I need to break these numbers down for you?

Happy Motoring

Looking at ages I'm getting a LITTLE better understanding. At age 16/17 I gutted my civic out. Then I realized that it was loud, uncomfortable, dirty, and hard to pick up girls in it as well. Not to mention the fact it rattled and echoed with 2 6.5" speakers and nothing to absorb it. And the gutting hardly made it lighter. Plus it just felt cheap. But I think mostly it was my girl that did it from bitching at me. I'm about to be 19, and I finally put my internals back in this past October. I never realized how much I missed it. And I never thought i'd get so many comments. Someday you'll realize it's a daily driver, and you'll want comfort in it as well. Not to mention your girls, assuming you have any. As for me? I'll enjoy having corvette owners comment on how nice the insides are in my car. Not to mention when a cop pulls over a primered car and sees one of the nicest interiors he's ever seen...
